I had problems with the timing last year too, so they’ve had plenty of time to ‘get it right’!

The finish line is electronically controlled, the sensors read your chip, no problem there at all. It’s the start line where the problem is, it’s controlled by someone saying ‘go’ from a stop watch, there’s no chip reader there!!

The problem is they had no system to deal with riders being late.

Since everyone has a fixed start time, any late riders interfere with the start times of the riders behind them. The current 20 sec gap Btw riders is too tight to let late riders go without potentially interfering with the run of the rider behind.

I know what the organisers are trying to do and theoretically it is correct, but the system of implementation is completely wrong.

The winter series at Inners used ‘dibbers’ like orienteers use, that records transition and run times and is a much better system than the ‘fixed’ start time method.

They got my St 3 time wrong. I made the start in time, overtook the rider 20 secs in front of me and then got given a time 6 minutes slower than him!!! I notified them on Sun about it but still waiting for confirmation of results.

On the current (wrong) results list I’m 6th, I should have been on the podium, I’m currently not V happy about Race Timing Systems, pretty shambolic really.

Ooooh, that’s a good thing to remember! I’ve just got my new bike with a reverb that has an interupted seat tube, I always start with the bike upside down to jet the wheels off

Just need the lever to be higher than the caliper, so level is fine. I loosen the lever clamp and put it horizontal so the bleed screw is as high as possible.

All posts with the hose/cable attached at the top are just wrong! Any designer who thinks a loop of cable flapping around is a good idea wants their brain testing.

I love the look of the new Kronology, I recently got a Reverb on a new bike and I hate it due to the sh1te cable.

As soon as the Stealth Reverb or the Kronology are released I will be changing the reverb.

The code was ‘FRAME50’, not sure if it’s valid anymore though?

I got a Gran Fondo frame 2 weeks ago and the choice was Btw that and the Sportive Bianco, they are both amazing value for money.

They also had a £50 off voucher code going which made it an even bigger bargain.

    Ta,
Noticed they had gone to the screw in fittings similar to the Goodridge ones and I’ve been re-using goodridge fittings on hoses for years without problem.

Before fitting the pads, find a flat paving slab, brick etc, (I use a chisel sharpening stone), pour some water on it and then rub the pads on it to create a bit of a paste. Clean pads with water and re-do. Whole process takes ~ 60 secs per pad.

Pads will then instantly ‘bite’ when fitted – simples

On the Bridgewater Canal section through Grappenhall & Lymm there are ‘No Cycling’ signs on the tow path. I know cyclists ignore it, but they are there!

Went to Delamere, started to rain just as we left the car park and then stopped raining just as we got back 2.5 hours later

You need all the ‘basic’ skills mentioned above but I’ve seen ‘psychology’ play a major part on numerous DH racers over the years.

Martin Whitely is a master at it with Minnaar, Mosely, Gwynn et al all being prime examples of his ‘jedi’ skills. You can even see it on riders who used to win when they were on his team and have done little since leaving.

A mate of mine was on the Trek B team 3 years ago and got to go on the Trek training camps and he said he was the best mentor he’s ever met.

You have the choice of Shimano, Raceface and Superstar. All 3 will get flamed or loved depending upon who you ask.

If the one you have has lasted 1 year I’d buy the same again as that’s not too bad a service life.

Alternatively you could just replace the bearings in it, costs ~ £5 for 6805’s off ebay or ~ £40ish if you want some ceramic jobs.

Gala tent, had 3 from them and have withstood some weather batterings over the years. Just make sure you buy HD pegs and ratchet tie down straps too.

Just be aware than some airports now (this is NOT a BA thing) won’t accept any bag that weighs more than 32kg, regardless of the excess charge. Geneva seems to be an issue here but I’m still not 100% clear on what they will and won’t take

32kg is an international H & S standard and is the maximum weight for manual handling. If it’s more than 32kg it has to go cargo. This is stated in every airlines T & C’s.

I have a leatt, it sits on my chest and back and is really comfy. I tried an Alpine stars brace and they sit on your collar bones too and it was really uncomfortable.

Like everything, it’s personal choice, I know people who love the Alpine Star brace and hate the Leatt.

I had a contour and got rid of it for a Go Pro, far better camera.

The contour suffers from horrendous wind rush noise due to the position of the mic.

I you can jump / drop off then there is nothing at Stile Cop that will worry you. All of the woodwork features are a doddle and you don’t actually have to go off of them all that fast or you’ll get into trouble on the following corner.

On rollers, inside, you can break the magic 20 min mark easy. The worst thing about it is the lack of cooling air flow, I set a fan up on low setting just to provide a very gentle breeze.

I’d say that was quite sensible considering the number of brainless dimwits that drive down that road in their sports cars and Chelsea tractors!!

I know my new SRAM BB has instructions for fitting it to either an MTB or a road bike, the only difference appears to be the external spaces as mentioned above.

Whenever I get on my DH bike!

Open face helmet at all other times when I have to actually pedal a bike up a hill, it’s too damn hot to do that in a full face.

    Tow bar only takes 75kg

    :?:

Are you sure there’s not a zero missing from that figure, that means it would break if the average sized man stood on it and as for attaching a trailer or caravan!!

Has anyone had a voucher refused due to multi use?

I’m interested since there have been a lot of these vouchers posted up here and non of them have been the same code which sort of indicates that’s it’s an individual code rather than a ‘UK10’ general code that gets posted now and again.

If you have a vice, you can push the old one out whilst inserting the new one.

If your shock has the two piece ‘top hat’ bearing pins, treat yourself to a HD single bearing pin they last much longer.
