Why not buy a frame intended to do that job. Salsa Fargo, Van Dessel WTF, Singular gryphon. I had a VD WTF which rode like a drop bar mtb now ride an all city macho man disc and have all the same kit bar the tyres and it feels more like a CX bike.

These look interesting http://www.velovitality.co.uk/collections/wheels-tyres-and-tubes/products/soma-cazadero-tyre-700c-x-42mm not tried them though. Currently using Kenda happy mediums 700 x 42 which roll well and have decent side lugs.

Aesthetically wrong, for me. Up until I did a skills day off road I road all downhill sections on the tops using cx brakes but I was encouraged to go into the drops. As a mtber at heart it seems wrong, but it is better. It just takes practice and a little bit of faith.

Good luck with the girls, small bits of advice which feel free to disregard. Give plenty warning of any transition times as children live in the moment and rarely think what is happening next. Offer forced alternatives e.g. do you want x or y, not what do you want? Keep your instructions simple and ask them to repeat what you have said. When they/she are displaying challenging behaviour use “shouting finished” rather than “will you stop shouting now” as your instruction is clear and given calmly. It’s very easy to get into a negative spiral, so where possible ignore the negative and praise the good. One good thing to try and do is reduce the number of questions asked, try to just comment on what is happening. We ask children far too many questions and that is stressful. Enjoy yourself and your time with them. Cheers 1 shed

Well we had a great time time today and took lots of photos. The weather was unusually kind sunshine and blue sky. Started at the bridge by the Lowry hotel. The buildings of interest were the courts old and new, the pump house, Wood Street mission, John Ryland, Armani, the hidden gem, town hall, central library, Bridgewater hall, the tiled pub nearby and then a building near Piccadilly gardens. Nearly forgot we included the Gestapo hotel thanks for the info Binners. Then we went to meet the rest of the family and had lunch at yo sushi at Piccadilly station. Considering this was a art project for my daughter I loved it, no shopping just looking up and seeing what a wonderful city Manchester is. Cheers 1 shed.

On returning from Paris on our honeymoon walking down the Kings Road my wife suggested the Bluebird Cafe, No thanks I wanted a bacon sandwich. It was great and just before getting it I walked passed a bike shop and stopped to smell GT85 normal life resumed.

I live near Swinton and will recommend housing nearby, Ellesmere Park Eccles posh with some lovely big houses. Pockets of Irlams of the Height around Lancaster road, Monton nice houses with a proper high street bars, restaurants and shops. Worsley pretty but lacking a proper high street. Boothstown a bit BMW impress the neighbours. The commute from the Bolton or Bury side would be horrid but it depends what your used to? Good luck with your search. Cheers 1 shed.

If your on the beach be careful with the tide it comes in very fast. Little streams turn into fast flowing rivers. Found out whilst playing on the dunes.
