They're designed for cycling. I spent £15 on one pair once 😆

@ DezB unless someone owns a very special bike, then most bikes are boring to look at, Trek, Specialized, Kona etc spring to mind. Halfords may employ monkeys in a few stores, but I've had the same dealings with 'proper' bike shops.

@ mtbflix – It's funny how the magazine reviews don't mention anything about these issues you speak of, in fact they're usually the opposite. As for the triple shifters I always thought this was to allow more adjustment on the front mech? All my road bikes have three or more clicks on the FD.

I've seen the Pro FS in the flesh a few times, and IMO it actually looks pretty nice, I would suggest the the OP that they read a few unbiased magazine reviews first.

another vote for Stans ZTR or Olympics, but on Chris Kings, unrivaled I'd say, they also sound amazing when free wheeling, but as a racer you shouldn't be doing much of that.. 😉

I once ruined a set of carbon wheels in a race when someone crashed into me. Not cheap to fix, and they weren't even mine!

Regarding those DT's, I'd have a look on the forum on xcracer.com

I use Continental Ultra Gator Skins for winter training/commuting, think last year I only had a handful of punctures. Hard wearing as well, still plenty of tread left despite over a thousand miles on them. Many of the club riders also swear by them:

Tesco own brand flap jack, nice and soft and it's only about 75pence a pack. About 3 or 4 rides worth.

They won't be trashed in no time… 😕 Put said overshoe on, position it as required, use a sharp blade to cut through and reveal the cleat. About 1" should do.

11 Speed is already out on the road equipment side, along with Di2 electronic Shimano gearing.

    It's all Research & Development.

9 speed is more than enough on an MTB in my opinion, but I can only presume that SRAM XX , with 10 x 2 is to allow a greater range of gearing while doing away with the weight of an inner ring. That an that fact most WC XC racers often do away with the inner ring anyway.

10 speed on a road bike is the norm now.

You tried a google? Most on here would just bin it and buy a new 5k bike 😉

In my experience I'd say Rebas for their simplicity, and relative low weight. I'm after a new set to replace mine that had to short a steerer for a new frame..continued page 300..Bargains to be had everywhere as well.

I've raced on the Durins before, the felt very different from other forks in that they seemed pretty rigid, but plush when put in the right situation, the remote lock out lever is also pretty trick. Don't think I'd buy a pair based just on that though. They seem to like cracking on the brake mount too..

Oh, and I once got over 8000miles out of a Campagnolo chain, make of that what you will..now running a Shimano chain.. 😐

@ Clubber, it was worn. Noisy, and the chain checker confirmed it was more or less past it. The drive chain was also kept particually clean and oiled. Rather spend £20 that, over £100 on replacing a cassette/rings.

I replaced the chain on my SRAM drive train after about 1500miles.

"at the end of the day" – once you've said that, I immediately presume you have a low intellect.

"stoked" – what does that even mean you wannabee surfer?

"basically" – useless word, often used by the intellectually challenged to fill gabs in their lacking vocabulary.

    "by and large" – sorry?

"dark side" – this forum is the only place I've ever seen it being used. Cut it out.

Each year Britain throws away enough IN DATE food to fill Wembley stadium five times.

Hence why the 'use by date' will soon be replaced by 'best before'.

Steve, on the last bike I ran the forks with two spacers, which was more than enough, but the headtube on the previous bike was just under 5" , whereas the replacement frame is just over 5" and that taking in to account an external headset means that they just aren't long enough. Real pain in the arse!

    The steerer is 180mm.
