    I have been trying, without much success to change the 50 on my 105 (5700) chainset to a more realistic 42 or 44.

    I did buy an aftermarket Stronglight 44 but it fouls badly on the chain.

    Is there a Shimano specific item I can use?

    Just wondered how others got round the problem?
