I’m thinking of visiting to ride the black tomorrow, but have never been before and it’s between that and riding in the Dales (closer to me from Leeds).

I did a 40km ride in the Dales the other day and conditions were superb, lovely crunchy frozen ground – but would like to see what Dalby’s all about.

Is Dalby in good shape? Worth the extra miles?

The red run was ace on boxing day. Much of it was bone dry, just a few claggy sections. I’ve got the trail centre bug again. Must get over to Wales and do coedy some time.

Thanks Rumble. Think I’m leaning towards Dalby rather than the Dales for today’s ride – especially if it’s riding fast.

Means I won’t have to keep stopping and taking my gloves off in the freezing cold to consult the guidebook for the route all the time too!

Looking at the forestry website, I presume the black is an add-on to the red as it’s only listed as being six miles long.

I’m sure I’ve read forum threads about Dalby before where people have said not to bother with the black – is that the general opinion? The forestry site says sections of it are closed anyway so I may just stick to the red.
