in powder, anything with a large flat surface so you skim over the surface.

once it’s all compacted something with a more ‘blade’ type base for speed.

A black bin bag will work fine. Just don’t sledge over any stones and expect to get a cold bum.

    Heavy duty plastic bag?

That’s all we used as kids 😉

I find bags etc only work well on well compacted snow, otherwise you want tray-like objects that spread the load. I wonder if waxed cardboard boxes work like they do on sand?

    Windsurfer.

Go really well, you can get more than one person on them, I think we have had six people and a dog maximum.

They have an element of steering and it’s not far to fall off at high speed when the fence is coming up too fast.

Standing up and using the foot straps is fun.

now, that brings back memories, long, long ago a mates dad had a garage, one winter he t’cut and waxed us a bonnet off a Maxi…… little to no steering control over a very, very fast descent 😛

Yeah second mini bonnet – one of my childhood memories is a mini bonnet with a big blue rope in Kilsyth Colzi battering down a hill.

Big thick platic bag with snow in it. Spreads the load so skims fast and also pads your bachside when you run over stones

Australian cricketers are good at sledging.

Phil Tufnell was playing once and they said ‘Hey Tuffers, lend us your brain. We are building an idiot!’

    made me smile
