So the wife and I are enjoying the fine afternoon weather with our daughter in the garden, have we got any nails the wife asks, “In the garage” I yell over.

Next thing I here, “so whats this then, when did you get that”

She found the brand new track pump I had secretly purchased.

“And whats this box got in it”

Having also found the rear XT cassette I recently purchased,

ER stuff I got cheap was my weak and feable reply.

    “Rubbish” she says.

Never ever let you family into the garage.

At least she didnt spot the bits for the fork rebuild.

Has no one on the forum got a sense of humour, I find things the wife has purchased and never told me about. I take it that all the rest of you have perfect lives, and perfect relationships and are never tempted.

Even the guy who keeps buying bikes in the same colour so his wife doesn’t find out.

I’m quite happy with my lot in life, I work hard so have no problems with little extravagancies.

Always unwrap it as quick as possible and pocket the receipt. I have swapped a fork round without the wife noticing before.

Irony, not all of us are intelligent enough to get it. 😉

You work hard yet you are not allowed to spend your own money?

I’d rather be single than that under the thumb 😯

LOL @ all the people with cajonas like melons and perfect relationships.

I wouldn’t worry Marcel, we’re not all perfect and I’ve done the same colour bike thing….and forks…………………..

Probably why I’m single and now have waaaaaaaay too many bikes 😆

Marcel, we understand and so obviously does your wife.

I’m sure you are polite enough not to comment on the ‘Oh this old thing’ line when she heads out wearing something you are sure you’ve never seen before.

    Live and let live.

Brant used to pre-ride bikes for customers to allow them to sneak them in under the radar.

It’s all a bit of fun as far as I’m concerned. In my marriage we both do stuff like this. It’s only a few quid here and there and it’s better than discussing things sensibly. That sounds terribly boring. Keep things interesting.

If there’s one thing being a clandestine bike owner has taught me, it’s that I certainly don’t have the minerals to be a clandestine shagger-about. I would class this good for my marriage.

Is that his excuse for the paint being crap? I understand now…

what did she need nails for

Once she found the bits she opted for some bigger ones and he’s currently enjoying some leisure time Jerusalem 0AD style in the garden.

I can understand things like a bike, but a track pump and a cassette? MTFU! It’s not about ‘cojones like melons’ or having a perfect relationship, that’s just a depressing way to live!

I find this sort of thing utterly bizarre.

We both ride bikes. If I want a new one, or some parts, I say “I’m going to but X and the money is coming from Y”

And that’s it. Cheap stuff I just buy and it arrives in the post. End of story. I’m currently saving up for an iMac, and Mrs PP knows this. I really do not understand why a) anyone would hide what they spend money on and b) why anyone would cop a strop about it…….

But then, I don’t spend money we haven’t got. Is that the problem????
