telegraph pole needs moving!

Hi,

We have a house which we’re renovating and I also use to WFH. Arrived this morning and it appears a drunk driver has installed a telegraph pole in my front garden. Horizontally.

Coincidentally, the telegraph pole that kindly provided me with internet access has also disappeared.

Anybody with any experience of how long it takes Openreach to deal? Naturally, I am unable to contact anyone beyond reporting the problem.

We had someone out to assess our broadband cable that got yanked down by a truck the same day. It wasn’t repaired at the same time, but that was only a couple of days later.

The dents in the car roof from the falling bracket that had been attached to the plastic facia board took a bit longer. 🙁

As a business dealing with BT Openreach, their project delivery team are the thing of nightmares.

We’ve just had a fibre cable replaced (roofer snapped it while climbing onto the scaffolding).  I’ve just remembered it was Cityfibre rather than Openreach but they turned up really quickly. First on the day it was reported but they weren’t allowed (by their policy) to use the scaffolding so had to wait for it to be removed. I told our ISP on the day that the scaffolding came down and they got the message to Cityfibre who came out a couple of hours later. Then they said they needed a lift/cherry picker to get the cable through some trees, so had to wait a whole 20 minutes for that to arrive, job finished 30 minutes later.  However, I didn’t need a new telegraph pole installing as well!

Is the pole actually horizontal?  If it could be construed in any way as a danger they will be out pretty quickly if you report it the right way – i.e. not reporting it because your internet is down, but https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/damage-health-and-safety

I’ve reported a dangerous pole, had it made safe that day and a new one installed the next day.

report it as a hazard, worried re people touching wires etc… should be out pretty soon

admittedly it  was our main electricity cable that was down (brought doewn by a tree branch in a storm) but when I said I’d go and move it they came pretty quick to stop me!

I should have said that Openreach were out making it safe, before I even knew what had happened. We’re at the stage where it has been passed to the repair team and I’m not allowed to speak to them.

I’ve just had a recollection that if it’s a number of properties affected the repairs will be quicker than if it’s just a single house. So do a number of wire sprout from this single pole, or just yours?

Someone crashed into a lampost outside our house last night but we never heard a thing.Post is on the piss and bits of car and radiator fluid on the floor but no car.

It’s around 10 properties that stem from the one pole, so hopefully up on the priorities list.

Looks like I’ll have to make an office visit tomorrow…
