I've juts committed to buying one…so in advance of picking mine up next week, what have you all got??

Mine's an 853 Curtis, Whisky forks and Middleburn/Hope kit - can't wait!

Last SS I had was a Dekerf 853 26" with Pace rigid forks - lovely thing that I shouldn't have sold!

All I ride in the UK
Local loops and trail centers alike:

[img] [/img]

Always middleburn cranks on square taper. The singular mow sports some 29+ish tyres. The ti29 loves the 650b+

853 Curtis singlespeed, rigid, I have the original first 29er ever made, in the garage.
Maybe I'll have to take a picture

Currently in pieces - can't quite bring myself to sell it.
It's plain lovely to ride - goes like a carbon road bike when you press on 'cause it weighs nothing. Makes mediocre trails feel exiting - no ironing out of bumps here !

No idea why pics aren't working - will fix later. Its a Scandal 29er with ali exotic forks - bloody lovely - for sale maybe as its so flat around here singlespeeda are useless

Midges aye.

I've always liked them since a 3000 mile tour on the pompino from which they were taken.

I want to treat myself to a drop hydro SS disk brake set on them one day though. Currently bb7 mtb on Dia compe drop levers

Avanti KISS 29er

New Zealand brand. Comes with an EBB and is very similar to the Singular I had except the original fork is more rigid (less comfortable) so I use a carbon fork on it.

No pics as I've yet to start my little project: have Indy Fab steel deluxe 29er frame, sterling silver head badge, rigid fork.
Will be stripped to bare metal and resprayed by the guys in Sheffield who paint for Field Cycles.
Phil Wood ebb; Indy Fab seat clamp; middleburn chainring and cranks; white industries cog; don't know about wheelset - have seen pair of phil wood 6 bolt disc hubs in polished finish but they're 36h which gives me a problem in finding the rims I want; probably go for formula brakes; possibly brooks c13 saddle; jones bars are a possibility; undecided about cables, grips, seatpost.

Ah, perfect thread at the right time. Haven't rode for one reason or another for 18months and have decided to go back to what got me excited to ride again several years ago, an SS just with slightly bigger wheels.

Nothing fancy but a start...

Another p29er, now sporting 2nd hand Ti seat post and H bars.
Beautiful frame, shame the paintwork is so fragile....

Ran it in various guises but this one is good fun, plus wheels & silly tyres. Loads of fun on the beach.
It is without question the nicest bike I have ever ridden.
I would not part with it for anything.

Thanks Stoner 🙂 they look just the job for my CDF.

The ones on the CDF are similar but a little narrower and with less outward angle on them.

AND...... I just had a quick look on the On One website as I was typing this and they are only £20 ( they were £40 last time I looked ) So a pair are whizzing there way towards my CDF as we speak 🙂

Hi guys.
Nice bikes.
I'm ( kinda )" new " here.
( its been some time , shall we say )
Not SS , but , I just last night WD40d my fairly basic 29er that has been sat in the shed , and took it out today.
Its a low end Cannondale Trail , that actually rides pretty good , BUT , the suspension fork is Rhubarb.
I've had a look online for a rigid replacement , but as its just a cheap bike , its hardly worth spending silly money on a set.
I feel a rigid fork would a) drop lbs in weight , and b) satisfy my desire for seat of pants riding stupidity.
What do you recommend.????
Straight 1,1/8th steerer, NOT tapered.
9mm qr.
IRO 500mm atc.
Not silly money.
Lime green would be nice , ha.

I've seen the on-one carbons.£100
Any good ? ( currently out of stock )
The Exotics look a bit short to replace a 100mm suss fork ?

Anyway. Thankyou in advance , that I'm sure there must be an acronym for...

TIM

@everyone - the bottle cage is an Axiom Ripple Inox - really nice and they're not that expensive if you can find one….out of stock here but you'll get the details:

What gearing and for what sort of terrain are people running? I've just picked up a vitus dee ss 29er, but the current gear is 38/16. As I live in calderdale it's not much kop for anything other than the canal! Other problem is it's got 5 arm 110 bcd cranks, so I'm struggling to find a much smaller chainring. Am I best off just switching it to some 4arm 104 Shimano?

29" with 32-19

That's riding in the Lakes. When I was fitter 😐

Larger sprockets wear shower, I'd be tempted to just go big on the rear sprocket if possible.

Edit: 32-18 was doable but a 19t rear was much better for me.

32-18 for me - I can get up most things, problems for me are more to do with spinning out on the flat than climbing…..

You will be able to get a 34t ring for those cranks - Superstar do one - http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/raptor-chainring-110bcd-narrow-wide.htm

You'll need to find a 19 or 20t sprocket to fit - good news is you won't need a new chain if you go in this direction but will have to spend £'s for the ring/sprocket…...

Finally after 13 years I've succumb to front shockers cause my wrists are old and f@%£#d

Now running 28/16 because I could'nt find a cheap direct mount 32 and I had an unused 16t sprocet in the garage.

Almost finished resurrecting my Unit. Just brakes, grips and at some point wheels to set up tubeless.

I've squeezed a Chronicle in the P2s, it's got a good 3mm of clearance either side.
