Top film and not like the original Predator but maybe more raw?

Oooh.  Prey is excellent, great performance by Amber Midthunder.

Dare I say it, but it’s “probably” better than the original!

Although I did notice the nod with the “if it bleeds….” line.

I remember watching the original with a bunch of mates at the time and it was pretty unique so I’d say on par.  We were blown away by it.

Enjoyed that, similar and different enough from the original at the same time.

Somehow a very different vibe to all the other Predator films, due to the setting and year.

Been a good sci-fi week, with Aliens and Alien Vs Predator.

Nah*. I watched it when it came out and remember just thinking that it just seemed easy for her. At least Arnie had to get his arse handed to him and have a cry in a swamp before sending toothy boi packing

Pretty crap Predator though. Took out a coyote using a stealth cloaking device and thought that was worth celebrating.

    Oh dear!

Been waiting for this to turn up on tv sometime, so I’ll have to check where I can see it on a repeat. Just checked, it’s on demand until mid-November, so that’s a must watch then.
I love the fact that the cast are all First Nations, and all the dialogue is as well.

Whilst searching I found there’s a Prey 2 coming this year.

Yeah, the original was an 80s action film so right time for it, and the predator had destroyed everything in its path, this one was a bit meh, started well but the battle at the end was just too predictable and the fact she ended with no injuries at all, after seeing it one punch a bear to death, the fact she managed to survive hand to hand with the predator was a bit of a stretch!

I reckon it comes a very close second. The premise is a good one, doesn’t indulge in too much ‘fan service’ manages to occupy the same universe as the original while still being it’s own film rather than a simple retread.

Certainly better than all the other sequels (by a significant margin). Deserved a Cinema release, probably more so than Alien Romulus ( the positive reception for Prey was apparently why Romulus got a cinema release in fact).

Really not sure if they should do a sequel though (fan made pretend trailers aside), lightning seldom strikes twice, and as a standalone film Prey really worked, seems a shame to ruin it with a potentially less good follow up.

+1 to that, I will wait for it to be on TV.

44 minutes and the Chanel 4 has fallen over as usual.

It’s a bit Meh.  Intermission Report.

    Archery is dreadful.

    Dubious geography.

    To much CGI.

    Might return later…

    True.

I’m still stuck in the 80’s.

    Update.

    Finished it last night.

Well from 45 minutes onwards, French Trapper bit. The film really came into it’s own.

Getting rid of the Predator was like watching the end of level street fighter game boss.

    Sorted if worked.

Enjoyed it. Bit wokey, but a solid 5-6.

Might watch it again in the original Comanche, if I can find it.

Ps still prefer the Arnie film.

I’ll watch it (Prey 2) and I have a suspicion that there is more than a nod towards using it as some sort of springboard to a series like the Aliens vs. Predator graphic novels (not to be confused with the films that bear the same titles. That could be a good thing, or it could be formulaic garbage.

I watched Prey on Sunday and I enjoyed it.

I’ve been meaning to look up what else the director Dan Trachtenberg has done since or before as I liked the way it was filmed…

The predator must have had his Weetabix that morning to shoulder press a Grizzly.
