Prima Primavera Carbon Aero handlebars £120 240g – Any experiences?

£120 240g ish, huge holes to stuff tubes through (will a hydraulic line fit through without needing to cut it to remove the bolt?).

Overall very good reviews, no reports of breakage, Chainreaction brand, anything not to like here?

They used to make an alu version for half the price at 340 grams, but looks like they stopped making it, there’s also the Bontrager Aero bars but they don’t look as aero and the holes are smaller.

I’ve had a pair for a year on my summer road bike. I like them but when riding without gloves which I prefer to do as much as possible when the weather permits.
The base of the un-gloved palm fits better into the scope behind the hood than when gloved.
When in gloves your hands want to slide off on the down slope from the tops to the back of the hood.
If I was buying aero bars again, which I love mainly for the comfort on the hoods, I would probably go for Easton EC70 which are only around £20 more at CRC/Wiggle.

Interesting, yeah the price difference isn’t big. The Primavera looks a bit more aero though?..gehe

I have had a pair on since summer 2019. I choose them for the price and the fact that they are compatible with clip-on TT bars (and have space for lights etc). Other brands probably are, but Prime have stated that they are.
I paired it with a Pro Vibe Stem (which is also aero looking) and they match up nicely.
I am happy with how they work, and they fit me well.

Probably because it’s decathlon, their market is the 99% in the middle of the bell curve that want a generic 42cm wide bar, 110mm stem, 1.8mm bar tape and a 145mm wide saddle.

Have a look on ebay, 120 and 130mm stem’s go for peanuts as no one wants them. I got a Zipp Service Course SL, £85 new, taken off a new bike, £15 (and I was the only bidder so if I’d waited long enough someone would probably have listed something suitable at 99p).

But they have a 130 mm!! Good tip tho

Looking at these, do you have to route the cables internally? Don’t really fancy having to disconnect/re-wire everything.

They are aero bars, the whole point of them is to hide the cables to make them aero. Routing underneath kind of defeats the purpose of them.

Yes, routing is internal but has nice big ports compared to some of the internally routed bars I’ve had.

On a bar that isn’t internally routed, then unless you wrap the bar tape right up to where you would normally wrap it (i.e. near the stem, rather than just past the hood/bend) then you’d still need some kind of tape to hold cables in place. I’ve used insulation tape alone but it looks a bit of a bodge.
