My Ultegra cassette has bitten into the Novatec hub, even with it’s Anti Bite Guard, to such an extent that the middle cluster of cogs are rattling and the shifting performance is knackered. I’d tightened the lock ring up enough initially but have been wary of over tightening as another Novatec freehub that I’d had split at the threading where the lockring screws into.
I’m thinking of trying to dremel in a slot for another Anti Bite Guard on the opposite side to the existing one to see if I can prevent this from happening again. Perhaps screwing in a pair of micro screws to ensure it stays firm as sometimes the epoxy glue doesn’t hold the ABG firm.
Has anyone got any simpler solutions to this recurring problem? Using another brand is not an alternative at this stage.
