My LBS said I hit a new record today with highest service cost without having any full components replaced.

    Final bill £433 !!

Main cost was them sending carbon lefty to TF tuning and finding it needed a new lower stanchion due to anodisation wear. That plus a full fork service was £377.

The rest was a bit of this and bit of that at LBS.

Wasnt expecting to re-mortgage over a service.  My BMW costs less!

Ok? Bit disingenuous the call that servicing cost when more than half was the cost of of the part, no?

Bit like saying your lbs charged you £2k to build a bike, when £1850 was the cost of parts?

Ouch, but it’s a fork repair more than anything.

as for cars, my boggo 2.0 Diesel Seat cost £900 last time around!

Remove fork  (Brakes, hub, stem, etc)

    Carefully pack, and post securely.

    Cost of parts.

    Full fork service.

    Refit as above.

Bit of this, but of that.

    What’s your point, caller?

    Or…… £56 service, a £100 fork tune/service and £277 in obscure parts for a lefty…..

So your bike shop charged you £56 to remove the lefty from your bike, pack it up and send it off to TFT, service your bike and refit the fork.

What exactly are you complaining about?

All sounds a bit “lefty field” to have paid that amount.

    🤣

Judging by your username you don’t need a fork, right?

Did they ask you before saying yes to the price?

I would have appreciated them asking you if you wanted to go ahead with full Lefty rebuild/service … I would have gone the new fork route; but more pay out short term; a lot less there after.

i once paid £30 odd for a bike service; without realising they would charge a set £20 quid for each little job they noticed needed doing. So them adjusting my gears, and replacing a gear cable cost me an extra £50 odd quid … never been back since.

Just think yourself lucky you’ve got a Lefty. Normal forks cost twice that to repair!

*yawn* Replace the front springs on your BMW and then come back to us..

The actual service cost, without the pretty obscure suspension part, seems quite reasonable.
