    Anyone bought and used any?

Lunchtime impulse punt as they had one pair of my size left. Being tight as a gnat’s chuff I’ve left the labels in case someone died/found they fell apart within a week 😎

They’re Five Ten (Sleuth canvas) clones as far as I can make out.  Seem sturdy enough if I can get a summer out of them will be well chuffed for the 15 quids.

Bought one of those Crivit helmets a good few years back for town use, now use a lot as it is comfortable and light.  Least sweaty helmet I’ve had tbh.

Jings, they look decent! Nice to have a cycling shoe that doesn’t look like something a teenager would design on the inside of their school book cover

Are they stiffer than normal skate shoes?

^ Somewhat.  Fairly stiff in the torsional twist test.  Not nearly as stiff as the Sombrio Shazams I used to have.  I haven’t tried the Five Ten Sleuths (or any Five Tens) for comparison.  We’ll see how they go.  Not expecting £60 quid’s worth and they aren’t, but needs must.

There were about 8 pairs left in the Malvern store today, mostly sizes 8 and 11.  I’d guess it was last week’s stock.

Threw caution to the wind and just trialled the, grocery run on the singlespeed.  They are grippy, no probs there, and fairly stiff/thick sole with no untoward pedal/pins feel in the ball of foot that you might get from some skate shoes.  The upper of the shoe feels a little flimsy for serious offroad shenags so I’d go with ‘great for light use’ as a first assessment.  I have much trail riding planned over remainder of summer in to autumn so we’ll see how long last until they cark it!  Watch this space 👍🏼😬

I checked them out in the Royton, Oldham store. They look decent.

    Compared to  spesh 2fo….

Lighter and less supportive – especially the upper. Less stiff in the sole – although I think the 2fo’s are a touch too stiff.

Rubber feels gripper and as the sole is softer, I didn’t feel like I was getting bounced off the pedals as much.

BPW – Stick with my Impact Lows

FOD/Bristol Local – these will do nicely.

Plenty left at Bishopsworth this morn.

    Update.

Won’t be buying again. It may have been six months simce I purchased these but ongoing injury meant have only used them for about two-score bimbles max. They become noticeably less stiff-soled soon after first wearing. Yesterday I was stepping into one the midsole of one snapped clean in half at the metatarsal point.

On removing the midsole (which wasn’t fixed in all that well) it appears to be constructed from poorly reinforced cardboard/fibre. ‘Buy cheap, buy twice’ invoked.

OTOHF – the regular running shoes I bought from Lidl (£13) have been great for a year with regular wear. Same the year before. So,a double shame they fluffed these flats as I expected better.

In the spirit of waste not + want not I shall attempt to source better quality, stiff mid-soles and glue in place, as they rest of the shoe seems fine. Local cobbler ahoy. Luckily we have a good one here.

Failing that, anyone know of a decent mnfr of mid-priced MTB flats?

I have a pair of five tens that look exactly like those.

    They have been ace.

They were 50% off at crc so I bought a second pair. That was at least a year ago and the first pair are still in great nick.
