I had to bodge a wheel with insulating tape at the Puffer in January. Still in there now I htink about it. Must ride more…. But don’t think it is best idea for long term use.

It’ll be fine … I use it as tubeless rim tape too.

Been using it for fifteen years, not the same bit obviously, it works and its lite.

I use it for tubeless too – no problems and a damn sight cheaper than Stan’s tape. Needs to go on really stretched though so it;’s not just relying on the adhesive – and I put two or three layers on – last bit not stretched so it doesn’t pull off.

That’s odd because I’ve only had issues when trying it.
First it’s too soft and the pressure forces it into the spoke holes.
And once some tape I used reacted with my tubes, and sort of melted them?

Make sure the tape is warm, if its straight out of the shed it won’t stick.

Years of use here too, but as above use 2 or 3 layers.

same experience as oldgit apart from the tyre melting bit, i did use some weird grey tape with fibres once which was fine

yep, stretched, tube intruded into the spoke holes resulting in a puncture.

been using it for tubeless wheels has worked fine for me for the last year. Using one layer of insulation tape and some reinforced packing tape I got from ebay for a couple of quid.

Works on my Stans rims fine and dandy, damm site thinner than that material stuff too, making getting tyres on easier too

Double layer on loads of wheels and never had a problem.

Been using two layers of it on mine and customers bikes for years with no problems until I did a road wheel a month or so ago, seems two layers don’t cope too well with 110+psi that he used.
