What’s it like in/around Bonfire night?

We are looking for a break and considering a cottage there but one of our dogs is terrified of loud bangs so we need to avoid anywhere with too many fireworks.

I don’t think there is an organized display, but it’s a big enough village that there’s a fair chance of random back garden stuff.

I can’t believe it, people are already setting off fireworks round here and it’s not even Halloween. My poor dog is hiding under the Christmas tree.

(Joke, in case anyone was wondering.)

Thanks for the response. And the joke!

My anecdotal experience of fireworks in the Dales is that they are a bit frowned upon because of the fire risk (setting fire to farmers’ hay barns). We once spent New Year near Hawes, let a couple off and had a couple of very angry farmers on our doorstep giving us a bollocking.

The last time I was in Ingleton (last year) sadly Bernies was closed.

Having spent my formative years in Venture Scouts caving in the area and feating on the breakfasts and pints of tea I do hope its open again.

We always go in Bernies! Yes, it’s open, we were in a couple of weeks ago.

Happy days regards Bernies. I am in the area in two weeks and will call in.
