[#9793059]

So, we've upgraded and modified a lot of the databases and technical bits and bobs around the back of the forum today. There's a lot more still to be done and that means some things may be a bit different. I'm asking you to bear with us while we keep working on it.

So, you will notice that the forum search has disappeared. This is temporary and it will be switched on and tested shortly. I'm sure there's some other issues you will find and by all means point them out here.

A point to bear in mind is that this is the start of some major site development and changes that we have planned for the coming weeks and indeed months. The end point of all that is a happy place with lots of new things to play with, but getting there may be a bit bumpy at times.

Cheers
Mark

There is a very annoying rogue query that is slowing things down to a halt. We are trying to find what is triggering it. So bear with us.

We think it’s to do with the RSS feed.

For something that costs me nothing  (and when it's not there it feels like I'm missing a limb) all I can say is thank you for your efforts.

We are aiming for stability right now. We will then set to on the fine details... including colours and styling 🙂

Mark is no longer the resident grumpy, he is now just a subscriber. (would insert smiley, but none available)

Ahhh...If I increase the zoom level to 133% (from 120%) then I see the green. At the 120% zoom, it looks mostly like the older version. (Win 10 PC, Firefox)

Edit - the 133% with the green doesn't look good on a PC.

Mark, just a quick headsup, when viewing in a minimized screen the avatars such as JoeG's above appear in full screen and are huge compared to the rest of the text (on Google Chrome)

Mobile version looks much better. The swamp green type on the desktop version is hideous though.

And weirdly, I can log in on my PC, but my Ipad still says the forum is borked?

Server is running a little hot right now but it’s still going.

About to turn on something that could either make that better or worse 🙂

Yeah we are aware of the issue with the large icons. We are just making sure the engine is running smoothly before we set to cleaning up the upholstery 🙂

In some respects, it looks like the pre-2008 STW.

Two observations;

What is 'Engagements' in profile/forums? Seems to be showing threads I'm not engaged in?

Topics created (profiles/forum) is excluding topics in sale/wanted forums.

Think it's just showing everything off the forum, so a bit broken

EDIT: quote button broken on firefox

New format (with green) looks good on my phone, though. (Android, Chrome)

Those avatars are massively enlarged and unsightly.

I don't like the green/khaki so much - was OK as a background in the days of old (is it the same colour?) but no good for text on a pale background

"Mark - About to turn on something that could either make that better or worse 🙂"

All IT work summed up in a single line. "Maybe it'll be great or maybe it'll go on fire, who knows?"

There doesn't seem to be a way to click back to threads you've replied to from your profile?
