    Hiya
I am possibly making a trip down this weekend to the FOD.

Can anyone who has ridden the Cannop Valley loop tell me if the trail is rideable after the rain we have had and also is it easy to follow once you afre on the trail as I know it is not way marked?

    Cheers

    Or the forest in general?

The forest is pretty dry at the moment and mostly drains pretty well even after heavy rain.

The Cannop Valley route is the one posted on a website for a pub / bunkhouse in Parkend I believe? Will be rideable although one part of the route runs through a Nature Reserve where bikes are 'frowned upon' so don't be surprised if some well-meaning local dog-walker tells you to get orf their land. One junction of tracks in the woods can look much like any other junction of tracks in the woods, so have fun 😉

Plenty of other riding too. Get along to the Pedalabikeaway cycle centre at Cannop where you can get maps and advice. The area behind the centre is free to MTBs although there has been a lot of felling in the area this year so some trails are unpasssable at the moment.

Went this morning and need a better map for this route as we got lost on the way to Broadwell Jumps and then descended the dowhill track and ended up at the end of the Fodca but we should have gone right. But having said that, the downhill trail from the football pitch was super! Luckily I had a guy who used to ride it so he helped a bit. Fodca has been ruined in my opinion. It used to be dark then light then dark and now the trail is boring and needs to be given new life/course design.
Now the trees are down there is massive scope for improvement.

It is due for a revamp (and renaming!?!) after the forestry work is completed. There are also plans to waymark a 10 mile mostly singletrack loop based on the Royal Dean Forest Cycle Club Enduro course 🙂

It needs ploughing. Was much better before it was graveled. Oh well thats what pre packaged cycling is all about.
Bet there are some puddles out there now, it peeeeed down here last night. Taking the SS cross bike out instead today. Trouble with this weather is that there is less totty at the cycle centre
