Crap post title, but I mean films that you remember from your youth, but don’t ever seem to be repeated (unlike Starship Troopers which appears to be on a constant loop of repeats – not that I am complaining).

For me, it has to be Unman, Wittering and Zigo

    Bloodsport

Bloodsport seems to be repeated on Legend, or an i thinking of the other one where JCVD travels to Asia and enters a tournament?

For me, id love to rewatch Nikita (the original french version) and Leon (The Professional), neither of which seem to be available. Might have to break out my dvd player or perhaps even my vhs recorder…

JustWatch helps find where stuff is streaming, a couple of the above you can get free with ads / on trial. The only one it couldn’t find is Robot Jox.

the original promise of the streaming services has long gone – old films you have to pay to rent IME.

For stuff I really love I’ve started buying blu -ray when I want to see it.  Nikita available for <£6 delivered and blu ray quality is generally noticacably better than streaming (much less compression, and potentially compressed ‘actively’ by a person rather than just thrown through a automated pipeline so some effort to make sure it looked good as well. )

Shining Through. However, that’s probably a good thing.

Critters. Overshadowed by the slightly superior Gremlins and Tremors.

Yeah, there are plenty of films that just aren’t on any streaming platform. PirateBay is your friend here, though 🙂

Dogma, cant think why that might be.

There’s a bunch of films that you’ll never see via streaming:

    the wicker man (Edward Woodward)

    performance (mick jagger)

    the doors (val Kilmer)

    mad max 2

    when eight bells toll

    rosemarys baby

    the naked lunch

mtv unplugged: nirvana, Alice in chains.

any other bands…stone roses live in Blackpool, etc.

it wouldn’t kill Netflix, etc to stream operas and musicals too.

Maybe some new standard in high-Res audio will be the next big thing.

the technology already exists in high res mp3 players.

We use this to get old films – its a handy service and the catalogue is far better than the streaming services!

but don’t ever seem to be repeated

Lots of them have disputed ownership, or publishing rights, or the distributor has disappeared and no one has the rights to it, or haven’t been converted to a format that streaming services can show.

    the wicker man (Edward Woodward)

that is available on multiple services?

    the doors (val Kilmer)

    ditto!

same for all the movies you’ve posted I think? you need to acquaint yourself with this website http://www.justwatch.com 🙂

it wouldn’t kill Netflix, etc to stream operas and musicals too.

I have no doubt they will once they work out how to make money from them! They are definitely trying to broaden what they do. Only realised yesterday that there are a bunch of video games including GTA 3/vice city/San Andreas that you can play with a Netflix account!!

Dogma, cant think why that might be.

there is an unfortunate reason why this has been buried (you can’t even legally buy a new DVD or blu-ray) & it’s nothing to do with the religious content. Shame as it’s a great movie! Again, TPB to the rescue 🙂

    Five Days One Summer.

Though the DVD is still available, I don’t recall it ever being on telly.

    Great climbing footage.

This site looks pretty good for finding when/where things are, or have been on – https://www.tvguide.com/movies/performance/2000360374/

    (TVGuide.com catchy name 🙂 )

Pretty much all those films are available to stream..? Or did you mean as part of a subscription and not rental (which in my parlance is still streaming) heck even then Rosemarys Baby and Naked Lunch included in Sky Movies / Now TV subscription at the moment.

As someone mentioned above, I’ve started buying some of the classics on Blueray as it’s cheaper than forking out extra on top of the subscription to watch them.

Plenty of the sequels to old horror franchises used to pop up late at night. Don’t seem to that much now although that could be because I don’t watch much telly?

    Human Traffic.

Anybody seen that repeated anywhere? I think it was on the end of last year late on Film4, god it took me back.

There was a FilmFour film filmed at my high school and the surrounding area back in the 1980s called The Nature Of The Beast. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0272747/

I think it aired once on TV and then disappeared without trace. I’ve tried over the years to track it down because it’s basically a piece of local history. I’ve been in touch variously with Channel 4, the directors and the BFI and drew a blank each time.

I eventually found it several years ago hosted on some utterly random Polish web server and managed to download it. It’s VHS quality at best – understandable given the age – but if today I have the only surviving copy, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Some of the old skool horror films should be screened more often.

Thinking along the lines of Scanners, Evil Dead, Elm Street, etc.

For risk of repeating myself 😉 check JustWatch

    on Amazon Prime now;

    • Human Traffic
    • Scanners

    rentable most places;

    • Evil Dead (1984)
    • A Nightmare on Elm Street

    rentable AppleTV;

    • Withnail and I

It’s pretty much a golden age of legitimate streaming. I do notice though something be included with one streaming service for a while then it’ll be dropped and go onto another, I guess to try and make it look like their catalogues are always fresh.

Sorry, I presumed this was about films screened on free-to-view TV.

Chasing Amy. While Amazon and Apple appear to have it, I haven’t found it free anywhere – might just have to go old-skool and dig out the DVD.

Cry Wolf – it was the ‘B’ movie to Airplane! in 1980.    I remember laughing so hard at both films, and I still find Airplane very funny so I’d love to see Cry Wolf again.

That Buckaroo Banzai movie is included with Amazon Prime – has ads though.

Nil By Mouth – I’ve never seen it or spotted it being broadcast.

I’m sure Nil By Mouth has been on Film4.

But a sub to BFI player is what you need to watch a lot of cult/arthouse/forgotten/foreign films.

Good choices. Available to buy from Apple in full 4K Dolby Vison HDR. Leon for £5.99 and Nikita for £9.99

It probably has, but I have never caught it (I don’t get much time to watch much TV these days TBF).

    Ohh, and Shallow Grave.

I don’t think I’ve seen Near Dark on any streaming, or normal TV over the years.

I’ve still got the DVD, so maybe I’ll set up a streaming site just for that film cos its’ fab 🙂

never seen it or heard of it before! looks cool though. I will have to watch it! Weirdly, the only place it’s available is the Microsoft Store. (didn’t even know they did movies)

It’s an early film by the “Oscar winning director”, Kathryn Bigelow

    The Reincarnation of Peter Proud

    The Cassandra Crossing

Remember seeing them on TV when I was about 12, never seen them repeated anywhere but there’s probably a reason for that.

I think they’re on youtube that’s about it.

Dogma has just changed hands ownership wise, Kevin Smith (he is not the new owner) has also stated he plans to tour it next year now that Weinstein no longer owns it. In theory it’ll be for sale on DVD/Blu-Ray etc again at some point too.
