I’ve always assumed their are more left handed Arabic speakers / writers.

    Otherwise it’s just daft.

i’m left handed and tend to write with hand below the line i’m writing on so as to avoid smudges.

Sinister as I am, when writing the latin alphabet I tend to turn the page about 45° clockwise. A few right-handed people writing in Arabic seem to do a similar thing except counterclockwise.

I though lefties were frowned upon in many Arab states – reserved for hygiene duties. (?)

Another sinister-type here: years of practice. I write from below the line like damo2576.

    Pencils?

I’m a southpaw, never wrote Arabic but spent my school years constantly in bother for smudged, crappy handwriting and never understanding why.
