Recent rummage around in the undergrowth (OTB) has meant a tiny injury to my elbow. It’s now healing but the scar tissue around the main wound is really thick & irritating. I’ve been massaging it but has anyone had any experience with bio-oil? I just don’t want to spend tons on the stuff (it’s VERY expensive!!) if massaging the area is just as effective! Any experiences?

    :)

Wife used it whilst and after being pregnant, seems to have worked as she has no stretch marks. But she did use it everyday.

That’s great news thank you ! I could probably stretch(boom-tish-boom) to £10! It’s still a lot yo spend on an irritating scar!
    Thanks again everyone :D

seems to me to be a good bit of marketing, did nothing for injury related scarring with me.

Daver27 – may I ask, did you start using it as scar tissue was forming or was it in the latter stages? Many thanks…

Yes, I used it twice daily on my face, elbows and knees after my roadie accident where I hit tarmac and gravel at speed.

Strangely enough I used it following my shoulder op and had to stop cos it seemed to irritate.

I gave a bottle to a friend after her horrific roadie crash and she was impressed with the results.

That’s odd. I’d never heard of bio oil until an hour ago when a friend recommended it and now it pops up here. I’m just coming out of a pretty nasty leg infection where I have lost most of the skin on one leg from the knee down and have been told to expect a fair amount of scarring. I will give it a go and see if it helps.

For scar massage it’ll be no better or no worse than a cheap water based cream. Scar massage is all about the massage, the oil or cream you use is just a lubricant.

It’s is good, you can buy it in smaller size. To be fair I think massaging with a standard baby oil will also be effective

@luffy105 – I believe it works better in the early stages of scar formation. I may be mis-informed but I’d get going if I were you! You can get the cheap link above if you need it…

I used it on a scar & it seemed to work. My wife told me to use it saying that it was supposedly more effective than normal oils. She’s a surgeon & she’d heard about it from a friend of hers who is a plastic surgeon. I have no idea what the clinical evidence is. You pays yer money…

@solarpowered: I’d love to but not quite at that stage yet given there isn’t much skin there at the moment and it’s all bandaged up with daily dressing changes.

It’s been a pretty crappy month really, ended up 10 days in hospital with it.

As soon as there is skin though ii will get some on and see what happens. Might do a half and half and see if it is notably better than an e45 type cream

As for chicks digging it, my wife nearly passed out when she saw it when the nurse was redressing. Not sure that was the desired effect :)

What muppets wrangler said is largely true there is some evidence that vitamin c can aid in scar reduction too. That’s in an oil/gel not orally.

Pricey but a bottle lasts for ages.
Only problem I had when I put it on my collarbone scar was it stained my work shirts.
Don’t know how effective it was but the scar healed pretty well
