So, after discussions on here, I bought a tow bar bike rack from the roofbox company.

My tow bar has a 7 pin socket, the rack has 13 pin, which is fine because they supply the adapter.

The adapter fits in the car socket, but try a i might, I can't get the plug to fit in the adapter.

This is the adapter:

And this is the plug:

Can anyone confirm that these 2 are meant to fit together? I've been in touch with the supplier and they want to help me via face time or WhatsApp, which is possible but difficult.

And yes, I'm probably just being a muppet...

Mine (from RBC a few weeks ago) just worked. It didn’t really register so I can’t remember in detail but a quarter turn seems familiar in retrospect. I’m sure it’ll be ok.

I hate posting pics on here. I think they're working now!

This might help explain how it aligns and connects?

All looks right.
Line the square tab and square hole up when you push them together the turn 90 degrees.

It should plug in and turn clockwise. There should be a mark on the plug that lines up with the T shaped bit sticking out of the adapter.

If you can't get the plug in, try rotating the inner part of the adapter anti clockwise first.

Thanks everyone. From the video and the descriptions I worked out that the 13 pin plug was mis-aligned, so had to take the outer bit off. Lots of faffing and the adapter seems to be on now. Think it's all good - will try putting it on the car tomorrow.

Now the adaptor is on you don't need to touch it again. But...if you do remove it...do not twist and pull. Just twist past 90 degrees and it will come apart without getting miss-aligned. I prefer them to the old 7 pin now, less wiggling required and doesn't suddenly let go, bashing your hand on the bikerack!
