Van is showing an Engine self-diagnostic system fault light (shows at ignition but disappears couple seconds after engine is started).
Manual says take to a Citroën dealer quickly...
Called up garage (Inverness) and advised it’s a warranty issue but earliest available slot is November...
Now, I’d call that a catch22. If I carry on using the van then Citroën could claim I’ve not adhered to guidance and any damage is my fault. And I’ve no idea what potential damage it could be/do... plus what happens if it moves on to STOP message...
Anybody any experience of likely cause and if it’s potentially serious?
Any other option than waiting (I still have my car so not desperate on that front)?
Any recommendations for alternative to dealer (is there a local specialist for example)? Will other dealers (not same franchise) likely to be helpful towards me?
ETA: sorry it’s a baby killer diesel (Blue HDi)
If its clearing each time I'd not worry. Is it running ok?

What did the garage say when you asked if you could still drive the thing?
What did the garage say when you asked if you could still drive the thing?
Why would you even ask such a question of a manufacturers professional representatives when you can speculate on the internet with a bunch of inexpert strangers?

Because the manual says take it to certified service centre quickly...
What did the garage say when you asked if you could still drive the thing?
Nothing that gave me confidence that meant it actual was ‘safe’ to continue driving (obvs) and that if I did I wouldn’t be risking actual damage to the van...
Why would you even ask such a question of a manufacturers professional representatives
You mean mean the service receptionist desk operator? Who then asked their manager who didn’t then actually answer the question?
I’d have been delighted to have been put on the manufacturers professional representative.
However in lieu of all that I thought ask on here to see if any of the many Berlingo owners had any experience that might enlighten me. That, was obviously, my mistake...
You asked I gave my opinion. As the faults clearing and the lights going out and with 20yrs in the trade I'd not be too concerned.
Your other option is to call breakdown before you have one.
As the faults clearing and the lights going out
That is the fault (ie, “does it show the red warning light which then disappears shortly after the engine starts”). So, no the actual fault isn’t clearing (just the symbol/indication), start it up again and it’s back there, hence the question.
Not noticing anything much different in the driving/engine. It *might* have felt a wee bit sluggish (once or twice), but nothing other than a vague feeling...
How new is it? Any Peugeot dealers nearby or in the same chain as your dealer? They could also do diagnosis on the van.
Its a 19 reg, ~2years old.
I'd try your AA / rac cover see whats stored. Call them up when your not in a rush n let them plug it in.
If the light stayed on I'd me more concerned.
Its seeing a value outside a set parameter that's then corrected. It could be a 1000 things.
