As the title suggests. Any recommendations on a good filter type cooker hood? Any budget considered if it actually works well. I would prefer to have an extraction type but the layout of open plan kitchen living room doesn’t really allow for it. The filter hood we have just now is terrible.

We used to have a Bosch one that had been installed in 2000 and was still working quite well in 2017 when we changed the kitchen. The active charcoal filters lasted about six to nine months or so (and are not cheap)but we don’t do a lot of frying on the hob.
Our current one vents through an exterior wall and has grease filters that can be washed in a dishwasher- they need doing more often which is obviously cheaper but they don’t reduce the smell much which you can tell if you stand outside. Also a Bosch.
