Well, not entirely for me, primarily for Mrs CFH. Her teapot has broken, so a replacement is required.

    Do your best/worst.

Can she not just stick a teabag in a mug like the rest of us?

My Father! But its a waiting list I’m afraid as he only does two batches a year. For day to day use you can’t beat a Brown Betty. I was given a set made by Sadlers, but not sure they make them now.

    Really?

Come on now I bet you know of hundreds of places that sell over price teapots that are specially designed to put designer tea leaves in.

I hope Mrs Flashy will also be straining the leaves through a strainer made of unobtainium fine mesh? 😛

    Brown Betty, every time.
Just check the inside, to get one with a series of perforations separating the body from the spout. The pots with a single large hole tend to block both with either large leaves or bags.

I looked for a Dualit teapot but couldn’t immediately find one for you. If you can find one it will be ace…

Our lot like the boden teapots which allow you to stop the leaves brewing at the correct time. Nothing worse than bitter tasting tea that has stewed. I work for a tea company so am hoping they know what they are talking about 🙂

We’ve got a Piquot which has served great tea for twenty years, just about long enough to justify the current price tag. 😯 You will need a matching kettle for the AGA.

I recommend a little one, any little one, but it must be short and stout. 🙂

    Minuet double-wall teapot:

Stable, keeps tea warm for as long as it remains drinkable, enough for all the family and guests, easy clean. Everything to like except the price which obviously doesn’t concern someone of your means.

Awhile ago I saw a top tea pot review and le creuset teapot was top. Not got one though as they never to seem to have the correct colour…

In the flesh the Le Creuset ones are tiny, I bought one of these Price & Kensington Teapots the other month, seem pretty good with integrated steel infuser, so no need for a separate tea strainer but then I’m common as muck

We’re assuming that Mrs CFH uses real tea leaves and doesn’t dunk a PG Tips in it. 😉

That’s interesting John, think how many china tea pots you could break for £200. 🙂

    😀

Well, her tea does come from a local company…..And is split between tea bags for every day quaffing (and she does quaff away!) and proper loose leaf stuff for nicer teas.

As ever, some typically STW suggestions, so thanks all! Food for thought…!

Those Piquot teapots are stunning, they occasionally turn up on Antiques Road Show, and I love the style of them.
