From today's Guardian MBM...
It's 1986 and Manchester United were a faded giant, they hadn't won the league for over 20 years and they were regularly deluding themselves that the odd cup run was sufficient in asserting their status as a 'big club'. They were over reliant on an, often injured, central midfielder who was England captain, and a temperamental, skilful centre forward who often struggled for goals. To arrest that slide they appointed a man who had successfully broken up the old firm duopoly and improbably taken a small provincial team to League and European glory, a man who then went on to prove his management genius. It's 2012 and Liverpool have Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked by Reading. Good luck with that.
And yes, I find it amusing.
The Brendon Rodgers reign Is all going really well so far, isn't it? In a sort of Roy Hodgeson way, only not quite as good? 😀
Is it too early for me to Ressurect my phrase from 2 seasons ago, as a prediction? Liverpool FC - the gift that just keeps on giving! 😆

I think Arsenal are more of a joke TBH.
I guess Arsenal are having a bit of a chuckle now.
I could rant about his forever, but wont.
Oh... And can I make a prediction? After the complete failure to play passing football like Barcelona, by new year Liverpool will be hovering a couple of points above the relegation zone.
Andy Carroll will be recalled from West Ham in January, and it'll be 'sod playing like Barcelona, just ****ing hoof it up to the big donkey, and hope for the best!'

Carroll showed last night brilliantly why he shouldn't be at Liverpool. He was superb for the Hammers from what i saw... however, he was superb at exactly what he's supposed to be, a big target man. I don't want a big target man, neither it seems to Rodgers... Carroll may well be a superb player at West HAm or indeed whowever he signs for next.. .i still don't want him at LFC though.
Have you managed to climb out of your own arse yet? Deluded fool.

But they won't turn on the manager. Because it's not the 'liverpool way' to turn on the manager. Just ask Woy.

A fitting end to a dreadful few days in the Liverpool reign of Brendan Rodgers stemmed from a superior Arsenal display, carelessness and another error from the once formidable José Reina. But it was strikers in absentia who hogged the limelight. The Liverpool manager admitted he would never have loaned Andy Carroll to West Ham United had he foreseen Friday's non-transfer deadline day and will consider an Anfield return for Michael Owen.Asked if he would have sanctioned Carroll's move knowing what was to come on Friday, Rodgers said only: "No." Asked how confident he was that a replacement was coming in when he allowed Carroll to go, he said: "Very." It was the admission that Owen is under consideration eight years after leaving Anfield and four months after being released by Manchester United that showed the desperation that now prevails.
Owen coming back?
😆

You yourself are a more credible source for North West football comment and opinion than him.
But they did drop one getting rid of AC with their own unnecessary criticism, driving his price down themselves, and not replacing before he went. But long term, at least they've not paid over the odds for a 29yr old on a long contract who'll have no re-sale value.
What no-ones really mentioning is how good Arsenal look this year. They'll beat some better teams than Liverpool this season.
But long term, at least they've not paid over the odds for a 29yr old[s] on a long contract who'll have no re-sale value[/s] who'll score a hit-trick to bag you 3 points, when everyone else is playing like they're in a pub side.
FTFY 😉

Agree on the pub-side performance, but do you really think Dempsey could have done that? 😉
