Need a mattress for the spare room. Haven't bought one for 10 years...

How are ikea? Coil or pocket?

Needs to be here next week so no long lead times.

Don't want to spend loads as it is occasional use. Was maybe thinking of adding a decent topper to make it more comfy (or should I just spend more on the mattress)

Ideally change from 300....

Aren't Ikea mattresses non-standard sizes, or am I misremembering?

I got my daughter a mattress from Ikea. Was only cheap and rolled up really tightly. I was surprised at how comfortable it was given its price. Perfect for a spare room mattress I would have thought - no point in spending big on a spare bed that is not going to see much use.

EDIT: it doesn't seem to be a non-standard sized mattress. We're using it with standard sized bed and bedding and all seems to be the right sizes.

I just got 2 standard size matresses from Ikea, went for the cheap sprung ones as for spare room. Delivered rolled so easy to move and seem great for the money.

Ikea went to standard sizes some time ago.

Ikea do "standard" and "european" sizes. We've just got one, can't remember the name but it has made a massive difference to sleeping.

Hard to beat for the money, especially if you need a very firm mattress.

Which magazine/website regards the cheaper IKEA mattresses as best buys. Can't remember range names but one was pocket sprung and one was latex or foam or something and one was £160 other was £180 not sure what size those prices related to. But yes, I'm going to buy the pocket sprung

Need a double. Anyone using the cheapest £80 one?

I've got what I am pretty sure was the cheapest Ikea double at the time, to be honest it is fairly pants. It has very obvious depressions where you lay after about four years. That said it is not uncomfortable but i think poor value. For a spare bed/occasional use it's ok though. If you open the zip up and look inside you will be shocked at how cheap it all is!
