I have bought a Blu Ray player. To be fair it was a special offer with the new after the old one blew up.
IT IS ACE!
Forget watching films on expensive Blu Ray discs; that's an added bonus. This thing streams media from my PC (so don't need a media streaming device any more), has built in iPlayer, You Tube, Love Film and even selected Euro Sport all streamed from the internet. Yes there are some naff internet services on it but I'm gob-smacked by how much better watching iPlayer etc is on a big TV from my sofa, without faffing around booting up a laptop. The streaming quality seems better too.
I'm sure someone will be along to say a PS3 has done this for ages, but it costs twice as much and I don't play games.
I've always thought on demand TV and films were the future, but having to use a PC for it is rubbish. Now I don't have to. Recommended for those "can't get myself off the sofa to ride" days. Ace! 😀
Interesting. Got a link? Do you need cable?

It retails at £179 or something like that, but you can get it much cheaper if you shop around. Don't waste time with anything other than Sony. The user interface has been well polished from the PS3 and my experience of Samsungs and Panasonics is that they are playing catch up (and no iPlayer!).
You will need to connect it to you router. You can get a Sony wireless dongle but I'd recommend a mains-line adapter. I got a Devolo set from Comet for £60 which is plug and play.
It is the future.
As I sit here right now, I am in the middle of doing a load of work to creat an IPTV offering.
Is it anything to do with Project Canvas? I have gone from someone with little interest in TV (with only 4 terrestrial channels to watch), to someone who finds it quite exciting what is going on at the moment.
Am I sad?
