I would be only the facelift version as the older model hasn’t been updated inside for quite a while – which means no android auto or apple car play.
I like them but for me I wouldnt consider one that didn’t have the updated head unit
I'm not gonna disregard a decent car on the fact the head unit won't play with my phone nicely. To me that's a personal add on / upgrade which would be upgraded in due course - I'd want a decent unit with the rear camera option too.
As long as it's got electric windows, cruise control and decent air con I'm not looking for heaps of buttons and dials to fiddle with.
Went to look at one this morning as I saw it at 2am last night after my PM shift. Drove 50 mins to the city and realised I'd entered the wrong car yard address. So drove 45 mins to the correct place. Saw the car in the back. Guy said it was sold and "maybe I didn't clear my cookies". Meh. Tried to sell me a Patrol. Not intertested.
Err...I mean.. .Everyone needs a v8 once in their life, right?
Hello fuel pump. Can we be fwens?

4.7l v8. One owner from new. Huge service history and receipts. 244,000kms. Pick up Weds. We're allowed to make mistakes if we learn from them... 😜
Nice! Ive googled that engine - reckons ~18mpg. My 3.2 V6 is thirsty but when they are 2nd/3rd vehicles and only used for holidays/adventures then it's not an issue, also less to go wrong than a diesel.
Canning Stock Route next weekend?
Maybe the weekend after... I need to save up for fuel 😉
There's a bit of work that needs doing but probably not too much of an issue (bit of rust around top of widescreen edge, common problem and can be fixed). Will get rid of the winch and take out the third row seats to drop a bit of weight. Yeah I know I probably need shares in BP but! (I just realised I typed "but" at the end of the sentence - a very WA thing to do!!)
Picking up tomorrow. Was expecting to be shafted for insurance but the quote was $550 for the year with roadside assistance - which hopefully won't need to be used. At least, not tomorrow anyway!
I thought of this thread when this popped up on my Youtube feed the other day (but I couldn't be bothered using the STW search to find it!)
Regarding the winch and 3rd seats - the winch especially, if it's a decent sized winch wound with steel wire (rather than dyneema) the previous owner may have sprung the car accordingly to account for the added weight. Removing the winch could upset the handling/ride height......and saving 100kgs isnt going to improve your economy by much🤣
Yeah in the grand scheme of things. I just figure it's like carrying a chunky mate in the passenger seat for every journey. 😀
Winch is an old Toyota one, steel braided cable I believe so would weigh a bit. Shocks are stock and I doubt consideration to spring/dampers would have been made - but I can't confirm. It's a factory Toyota bull bar but I don't know if it's ally or steel). But no point lugging it round
I'll watch the vid when I'm home tonight - surprisingly it's one I don't believe I've watched yet!
Well, a couple of months in. Still very happy.
$100 a week to fill up. Work 4x per week and some weekend runs out bush with the bikes. It's not going to save the planet, let's just say that. I get around 600km from the main tank. I've never been flush enough to fill the main and sub tank so still not a clue how much full tanks will cost me. But I'm going >600km a week short to medium runs.
Replaced lights to LED (apart from main/dipped which is still standard halogen) as the standard lights are so bad. Ultimately I see a completed headlight upgrade.
The IPF spotlights were full of dust and heavily corroded. Managed to get another set of IPF lights for $30! (Not fitted yet).
Car's had a full service. Two things need doing - rear CV boot split. Steering rack worn. Quoted me $1650 for a new rack and $450 to fit. After a little shopping I found a rack, new with warranty for $633. Confirmed it was the right one and told it was a good price, go for it, he's happy to fit it. Otherwise mechanic said it was very clean and tidy and doesn't appear to have been thrashed on the beaches.
It's very nice to drive. I feel more relaxed, less in a hurry to get somewhere. It's crap with fuel, I knew that from the start, but I like it.
I know in the UK but built for your market
I hadn't really noticed, prior to being an owner, but there's bloody loads of them on the road!
I still browse FB. Surprising amount of 80 Series out there, 10-15k (I actually like the look of the 80 series more so than the 100 but shh don't tell her).
