If you haven't got the courtesy to reply to someone by name, don't bother.

Oh yes, that reminds me.
When I first got on the internet, I was told never to make "Me too" posts as it just wastes band width.
It seems like people now consider replacing "me too" with "+1" is acceptable.
It is not.

+1 Phil's cat

"Midlandtrailquestgraham" wastes a lot more bandwidth (bandwidth?) than "OP" ,Midlandtrailquestgraham.

Personally, I love threads like this, but I'm surprised that MidlandTrailquestsGraham couldn't predict that it would 'waste' a whole lot of bandwidth...

Having an unnecessarily long name wastes bandwidth

but obviously +1.

I doubt MidlandTrailquestsGraham is really the OP's name making the point somewhat moot.

If you haven't got the courtesy to reply to someone by name, don't bother.

If you don't have the courtesy to pick a short username that folk can type quickly then don't expect to be called by it.

Besides, OP also refers to Original Post, so it can be used as shorthand to say "Getting back to the question in the original post by MilitantTrailquestionGreg, before we got sidetracked into debating the best type of pie.."

Is it just me who's slightly disappointed by this revelation?

anyway, back to the OP;

given most people abbretiate my forum name to www not the wwaw it should be I'm happy to be either of those or OP.

and let's face most people on here are glad of any attention they can get 😉

OP = Original Peter, the early version of PP (peterpoddy) that didnt include as many bells and whistles... it did come with a handy flap for putting your wallet under in wet conditions though.

I found this anagram:

Whereas OP only results in PO.

Anyone do better?

OP makes a lot of sense though; 100 posts into some argument about some triviality vaguely related to the OP and someone says in response to grahams post, it can be quite unclear who graham said or what his opinion was.

OP is quite clear.

Too tired after that, so quits...

iDave, you've confused me now, who's the OP, MidlandTrailquestGraham or demented and deluded? And when did he change his name?

Dear MidlandTrailquestsGraham

I am writing to tell you how very upset I am about the lack of courtesy shown in you post. If you cannot be bothered to start your post "Dear All" please don't post at all.

Yours Sincerely

avdave

I always thought "OP" refered to the content of the original post not the poster

Eg: "getting back to the OP" meaning refering back to the original question/point when a thread has gone of topic.

Either way, I reckon the OP(sic) is trolling.

No that's OT not OP, not to be confused with OTT or OAP.

Anyway, back to the OT, I do actually agree with MGT here, it sort of robs me of my Awesome if you refer to me as OP, I have name, I am TSY.

But there's no point crying over spilt milk, as they say, unless you're a vegan of course... oh.
