Geoffrey Boycott, cause it's just not krikeet.

I guess there's a difference between boycotting and 'just don't like'. I don't buy Diesel cause it seems overpriced and not to my taste; I 'boycott' monkfish (even though I love it) because I've read something about how they take (several) years to grow to maturity, and hence the overfishing of it is a major problem.

I don't really have reason to buy anything from Trafigura, but I guess I'd boycott them if I did...

Is there an ethical/responsible businesses league table that we can all refer to when making purchase decisions?

My work canteen.

Been boycotting them since about June when they put up the price of a baguette to £2.30 whilst AT THE SAME TIME getting in different baguettes that are half the size of the old, cheaper baguettes

I asked about it and the old battleaxe behind the counter said 'we are doing you a favour' whilst pointing at my stomach.

Sky/Murdoch for the usual reasons.

Superstar definitely won't be seeing any of my money. Probably good products (and I did used to buy from them before), but the guy himself acted appallingly on here.

But Guardian is down there with the Daily Wail (which is a given), in the likelihood of getting money from me.

I'd say there's definitely a fair bit of stuff in the Guardian you could accuse of being like the Daily Mail for lefties, however (mostly) unlike the Daily Mail there is also some intelligent stuff in The Guardian, and it doesn't whip up hatred against immigrants and asylum seekers.

I can't understand all the anti-Israeli feeling on here, me.

Really?

Tesco - for destroying our high streets and the livelihoods of many farmers
News International - Sky, Sun and anything to do with that odious power-mad Aussie Rupert Murdoch. If you want to influence who gets into government do it in your own country not ours.
Ryanair - the sheer level of obnoxiousnous that is Michael O'Leary and his contempt for the people who have made him rich means I will not fly with his airline.
MacDonalds - for selling junk and their 'greenwash' over how sustainable and green they are.

Fair enough, they did all that, but still I can't help but think that because they are surrounded by people who hate them and want to drive them into the sea they are doing what they have to to survive. Are the other side blameless in all this? I don't see the Palestinians being helped much by their 'brother' arabs.

Tesco - for destroying our high streets and the livelihoods of many farmers

Surely its down to those who choose to shop in supermarkets for the death of the High Street? (most people)
How is it specifically Tesco?

If we all chose to shop in Bob Higgins(fictional shop) grocery shop, then Bob Higgins would become richer and richer, expand and expand to more and more shops etc etc...
At what point would we decide that Bob Higgins has become too successful and so we will no longer shop there?

Tesco, for their lack of ethics on so many levels (see Co-Op below for the food angle)
M&S, for a lack of ethics in clothing manufacture.
Asda, for being part of the worlds most abhorrent chain (WalMart)
Morrisons, for no other reason than selling crap food*
Coke “o” Cola, for ripping the shit heart out of S America.
Pepsi, for supporting the Spice Girls (actually for the same reasons as Coke)
JJB Sports, because they flaunt the lack of ethics in clothing manufacture abroad.
Nike, for the same reasons as M&S and JJB Sports.
Co-Op, but only for their milk, I would boycott them entirely but for their FairTrade policy, which just about makes up for the lack of ethics regarding Milk Production and British Farming.
Trek, I could be wrong here but I think they were the first to offshore their production and it took years and years for them to pay the going rate for local workers*2
D&G, again for exploitation of indegionus peoples (you could put a lot of high end brands in this category but I’ve chosen these cos’ I hate their clothing)
Starboard (they make windsurfing/boarding equipment) for they systematically ruined the smaller manufacturers in the business with their proliferation and location of their factory in Taiwan.
Anything from Isreal, for reasons of oppression/ aggression and systematic antagonistic attitude to thi=ose o0f differing religions.
Catholic Faith, which in itself is a whole minefield of cohesive self serving oneness.
Mainstream makeup producers, for their lack and ignorance over animal welfare.
Newspapers, waste of rain forest, tat and gossip column inches with no newsworthy merit.
Lynx, cos it stinks vile.

*IMO.
*2 I stand to be corrected.

Body Shop - for hypocrisy

Any American airline - for utter shittiness (unless absolutely unavoidable)

Draught lager in the UK - for utter shittiness (exceptions apply, such as my local)

London Heathrow T4 ... because the jobworth security personnel think everyone is a terrorist.

Yes, I know you want to ask me what a terrorist looks like and yes I can tell you that if you cannot distinguish one from the other, especially you as security personnel, then take your pea brain and look for another job, because you are not fit for the job. Oh ya ... I know you want to confiscate my item (retractable braided wire keychain) for your own use, you maggot.

I just hope you get full body probe when you visit other countries in future and especially those who work at T4 as security personnel.

Also tell you supervisor to have the guts to let me have her name to complain ...

Why do those that have said they boycott tesco in particular not also boycott asda, sainsbury, morrisons, etc? Is it because they have a higher market share? Will you start boycotting asda when their market share tops tesco?

I'd say if you are going to boycott products that are supplied via morally dodgy companies/ countries you'll have to go off line fellas!, Having visited the big players in the far east who almost certainly had a hand in you phone/tablet/pc etc then i'm afraid you wont have much choice. they are by european standards terrible places to work and the employees are treated pretty badly (although i've not been for a couple of years so they may have improved!!).

Tesco for their general underhandedness in planning and consequent dominance;
Tobacco companies as I detest their attempted cynical manipulation of people's minds;
McDonalds for their business ethics;
Coke & Pepsi;
The Times partly as it's Murdoch, partly as it's poor in my opinion but mostly due to that Matthew Parris anti-cycling rant;
Eric Pickles if I possibly could.

Idealogical:
-Nike
-Newscorp/N.I./Sky

Aesthetic:
-most expensive-but-high-street brands where it is very omportant to have the brand name very big so everyone can see you are wearing it, particularly the ones that were cool and then sold out massively eg Bench, Ecko, Superdry.

Not sure whether "meat and fish" really counts: I do buy and cook these for other people and my children.

I am also a nurse, and so on a daily basis I am required to give people and extoll the benifits and virtues of medicines that are made by eeeeeeevil big pharma companies with highly dubious skellingtons* in their closets. (*yes that is how real health professionals speel it 😀 )
