So with mini me due in a few weeks the Mrs and I are thinking about booking a cottage in the Lake District during September once the baby's about 6 months old for our summer hols. The problem is we've never been before so not sure where to look at staying where there's nice cafes, restaurants, shops, family friendly walks and somewhere for me to slope off and ride the bike for a few hours in the mornings.
All suggestions welcome.

Keswick/Borrowdale area. Has all that, and a good park/swimming pool for amusing the little'un during weathergeddon.
