When in Ambleside, especially when entertaining overseas visitors when I want reliable food and service I usually eat here: http://www.sheilascottage.co.uk/

It's just up from Ghyllside Cycles in The Slack. The food is good and the portions large.

The Italian just down the road from Bike Treks. Can't remember the name but its about 4 doors down towards the traffic lights. Top notch!
