Trying to find a definitive answer or even if we have a date when a decision will be made. Holding off booking holiday accom for July/August for Anglesey so would like to know...
Any ideas? Ta
Yeah I want to know this too. for MrsDoris birthday this year we were going to go and see whales on a boat in the Pacific, as part of our holiday in Canada. I am now planning to substitute this with a trip to 'see Wales' in a 2009 Mazda 3, which I am sure will be just as exciting
I just need to be able to book it!
Announcement on any change in restrictions as a result of review due tomorrow I think.
Wales is not 'closed' you just cannot go beyond your local area. The restrictions are the same for those of us that live in Wales as those who live outside Wales.
Changes in movement restrictions may not be the same as being able to book holiday accommodation.
there's a review meeting today with any changes announced tomorrow. It's not expected to be a significant change, maybe relaxing the "stay within 5 miles" guidance, and possibly some non-essential shops opening. Next review will be 2-3 weeks...you can expect Wales to remain more cautious than England, although pressure is building on the Government to move more quickly particularly with regards the holiday industry.
No news on when we can use our static caravan in Wales. Literally only had it open for 8 days then had to close it ! Caravan site still awaiting news.
maybe relaxing the “stay within 5 miles” guidance,
The last thing I heard the FM say a week or two ago, that was going to stay for 6-12 weeks.
However, people seem to be ignoring it so maybe they will change plans.
I think they suggested self catering and other self contained accom (which I guess includes static caravans) would be open before summer ends
We have been keeping a close eye and news is coming very slowly. I'm hoping self catering accommodation will be opening soon and travel restriction significantly eased but I'm not expecting that in the next announcement. Maybe mid July if we are lucky, but at least August (fingers crossed).
It's our 25th wedding anniversary in August. We had hoped it would be Italy, but we'll be lucky if we can get to sunny Prestatyn. Even the site is saying 'be self sufficient' when coming - i.e. bring all your food with you and don't buy locally - which won't help the local economy.
Work colleague told me today she’s booked a cottage on Anglesey first week September... didn’t like to ask if she was going to swim from Birkenhead
I've got some relatives whose house is <checks Google> 308m inside the Welsh border. Will be good to be able to sit in their garden for a biscuit and a cup of tea soon, too!
I wouldn't expect to much changes tomorrow, especially with a flare up in Anglesey, closing down 2 Sisters meat factory.

According to Drakeford (First Minister) on the radio just now:
Monday: non-essential shops may open.
6th July: travel restrictions will be relaxed, allowing people to enter Wales for non-essential purposes and allowing free travel within Wales.
13th July: self-contained accommodation may open.
All above dependent on continued decrease in infections etc..
Presumably once we are able to get to the border we can then go anywhere in England too....
Also, one would assume self-contained accommodation would extend to touring caravans and tents, which is what I'm looking forward to.
I would assume it's tourers and tents - with tents you may need to bear in mind the loo/washing issues and they may take longer.
Hopefully our static will be open. The don't sleep over night anywhere other than your home will be lifted. Provided all goes well, a few 'select bubble' mates and I will be off to the static in August for a MTB weekender. Will have to ensure we aren't sharing rooms as a precaution (e.g. lounge will sleep 3 or 4) - tents on the lawn.
I need to drive through Wales to get to Ireland, whenever it reopens.
The restrictions are being done sensibly, as was always the plan. Let people use their non-essential shops for a week. If they can behave and obey social distancing rules then travel restrictions will be lifted, if not they will remain.
Don't get too far ahead of ourselves, we're reliant on everyone behaving correctly.
Yes, the Minister did say that. Just hope the two set backs with the food processing plants don't affect it.
Ooo, this time next month I might be going on a road bike trip to Prestatyn then, while visiting my mum (who will no doubt be looking to see my sister who lives closer around the 6th). \o/
Our van is in Prestatyn, Gronant to be exact !
I have just heard on the radio that Wales could be open for tourism from Monday 6th July, however campsites are likely to remain closed, due to shared facilities.
Also, England is likely to drop its ban on overnight stays when England's hospitality sector begins to reopen from July 4.
I'd usually stop in a hired static caravan in Wales, but I wonder if the parks will re-open or not - since they're unlikely to be able to open the facilities (pools, arcades, bars) that their normal family customers will want.
You won't get the shared facilities - our site (mainly owners) will open, but I doubt the pool etc will be open due to restrictions. You'll be able to book a van, but the usual facilities won't be available - pub/club entertainment won't be open.
That would suit me perfectly for my riding trips Fossy.
Just need the trails to be opened up as well.
Are a lot of the mountain trails still closed? I know the trail centres are (controversially).
On the radio, Drakeford did use the word self-contained a few times when referring to accommodation that could open, so I interpret this as static caravans with a toilet, holiday cottages etc..
I think shared facilities are the issue, so camping seems less likely, but I'm not 100% on that.
Caher - I don't think anyone is going to stop you travelling to Holyhead or Pembroke. There's far more traffic on the roads and I'm unaware of people getting stopped. So long as you don't need a number 2, you'll be grand.
Our van is in Prestatyn, Gronant to be exact !
Some great hill climbs around there, right on your doorstep, I managed to not spot the ~760 foot climb from Waterfall Rd in Dyserth heading up to near Coed Rhedyn-coch last November.
Chakaping - I have not heard that the national parks are open, so presume mountains are closed to all but locals. The message is still to stay local which a lot of riders are doing.
I saw a warden the other day, eating his butties in a layby next to a cordoned-off car park (Beacons), so they are restricting cars still, but I haven't heard anyone having grief for cycling on trails in the beacons. At least locally.
Cheers Bonni, I know that a number of RoWs were officially closed a while ago, it'll be interesting to see if they are re-opened to co-incide with tourism resuming.
Unless they already were and I missed it.
Same applies to the TCs, obvs.
Drakeford even mentioned B&B's so long as en-suite and breakfast given room service. I hope he's not been pressured into too much too soon, but it seems largely about right.
Our site has confirmed it will be open from 13th (9am). Tourers are OK so long as you are self contained as the shower block and also swimming pool/pub/club will be shut. Shop and chippy is open.
Might have to relocate my office from shedoffice to vanoffice that week ! It sounds like tourist attractions/outdoor spaces can start to open from them - not read the guidance yet.
> From 22 June, all outdoor sport and leisure facilities, with the exception of playgrounds and outdoor gyms are allowed to open.

Fingers crossed BPW and NRW are on board...
5 mile restriction still in place until the 6th but BPW and NRW trails should be good to go after then.
So what are people thinking re. booking accomm now for July & August?
Safe bet or reckless gamble?
All MTB info in Wales is under one umbrella.
Info on when and which trails are opening is on MTB Wales.
