I will be working up to Christmas Eve with two 24hr shifts between now and then. Got a mate whose last day is today lucky sod 😆
Which poor STWers are working over Christmas?
I work xmas eve, have xmas day and the Monday off in lieu of boxing day then 3 days before new years day off.

+1 🙁
I come off duty6pm Christmas day, that's the end of a 96 hour shift.
Working Monday next week, then driving down to the pyrenees and not back again until the 2nd/3rd Jan!!! 😀
Finsh Wednesday till the 5th. Off Monday as well so only 2 days next week. 🙂
Last day tomorrow, not back unutil the new year 🙂
Only becuase your works christmas card had a p45 in it 😉
I'm on call from 21st 'til 28th. So not actually grafting, but have to go out at a moment's notice. No booze at Christmas means being sober through all the traditional carp that I normally need a bit of lubrication to get through. I'm hoping to be called out all day Christmas, with just an hour or so off for dinner.
In 22nd until 27th. Off then until 2nd
I'm off Fri/Sat/Sun 25/26/27,that's the most time I've had off at Christmas in years.Got to work New Years Eve & NYD..
Yep, me too.I work xmas eve, have xmas day and the Monday off in lieu of boxing day then 3 days before new years day off.
I don't mind it too much as it gives me the opportunity to sort out all sorts of stuff while most of the great unwashed are on holiday, meaning that I can take my holidays when everyone else is working through the busy periods.
Finish tomorrow/Monday morning depending on how I get on then back in the office on 4 Jan.
For the first time in five years, I have the whole period off. I'm leaving work on the 21st and heading to Canadia on the 22nd. I am on call for at least a couple of the days that I am out, but I'm going to be relying on mobile comms on top of a mountain for that.
I pretty much finished today, most of my customers are a away over xmas, I have one garden clearance to finish off but that's just rubbish away. Go back to it 2nd week of Jan and will start the year very busy which is great being self employed. Plan on riding a lot over the next few weeks.
Christmas day off, boxing day in then off until the 5th.
I'm self employed so it never really stops. I've got a list as long as my arm of stuff that needs doing over christmas
Its only drawing pictures though. Its not like I'm darnt pit 😀
I'm off from tomorrow until the 4th Jan, I usually only take 3 or 4 days around Christmas but have so much holiday allowance left it's a case of use it or lose it. Still have to connect in a couple of times to approve timesheets but hopefully that's it...
On 'light duties' for next few weeks, catching up on admin really.
Wife is working late Christmas Eve and early Christmas Day but then off until 29th when she starts a run of nights and twilight a over new year. Says something about working in healthcare (she's an ENP) when that's the best Christmas rota she's had for years!
Start work tomorrow at 6pm, finish at 6pm Christmas Day. Bah humbug etc.
I've been off since 27th November (redundancy from old job), new job starts 4th Jan.
I could get used to this life of semi-leisure. GF is working pretty much all the time apart from Christmas Day so no chance of going away anywhere interesting though.
I finish 4pm Christmas eve and wont return until the 12th!
I'm supposed to finish on the 23rd as I'm working my notice up till the 31st and had holiday left to take which allowed me to finish on the 23rd.
This may dramatically change since I opened my email this morning to find my final payslip with a £600 deduction for pay in lieu of holiday.
I await my response to the snotty email I've fired off to payroll.
If it's not one I like I might be finished by lunchtime today.
Finish on the 23rd, start again on the 12th.
- trueOnly becuase your works christmas card had a p45 in it
Technically I'll be between jobs from the 31st till the 12th, payday January is going to be a minimal one!
Nights 24/25
Finish on 23rd, back on the 4th.
So not working at all! 😀
None of it. Never have done, never will
Off to darkest Wales on the 26th back on the 3rd or whenever
I'm finishing tomorrow then flying up to Edinburgh for a few day (pre-Christmas mini-break with the kids)
I'm back in work Christmas eve, knowing that we'll get sent home at around midday.
I'm then working on the 29th + 31st - mostly because they'll be short days, and I want to save my holiday for warmer weather + taking my daughter to hospital appointments.
4 shifts of 12 hours, starting 24,25,26 and 27th...the Bank Holidays are double time tho 🙂
12 hour days on 25th, 26th. 27th, 28th. 12 hour nights on 31st and 1st. Can't say i'm really looking forward to Xmas
Finish up early afternoon on Christmas eve.
Fly out to France on Boxing Day
Back to work on the 4th
Pig face - you shouldn't be working a continuous 24hr shift, remember we work at the same place!!!
I am on standby over Xmas and NY for 2 weeks on flood duty - hoping it doesn't rain as we don't want more flood misery over another Xmas time. 🙁
Last day in the office is tomorrow, back on the 4th, but I'm working from home 21st, 22nd and 23rd.
We're open all over Xmas, but our childminder is off for two weeks and my Wife can't take holidays at Xmas - she's not working Xmas day this year, but Xmas eve and Boxing Day she is 🙁
Christmas day off this year! Back in Boxing day at 06:30,
Go back in 25/26/27/28 for 1100-2300 shift, then 1/2/3 for 0700-1900 shift.
We were handed a nice little surprise a few weeks ago. Seeing as the 26th isn't a Bank Hol they want anyone who is rota'd in on that day to work the time on a different day over the Xmas period. Excellent - thanks very much! The office is actually closed on that day so I'm not sure how they worked this out. (I've a feeling that they told me that and then a day later asked me to fill in the Times Best Places To Work survey. 🙄 )
To everyone who is at work across the Christmas and New Year period providing services and supporting the office based masses, thank you.
two 24hr shifts
How on earth does anyone do a 24 hour shift? I need a solid 8 hours kip in every 24 hours.
Im still waiting on a phone call....
I have potential work in holland, norway and turkmenistan coming up over the festive period.....
Current thinking is i go to holland on the red eye on boxing day,....which wont be fine, how ever, the mondays the public holiday so double bubble. But as ever things slip and change and i could be home fo rthe lot.
Been off since the first of Dec. Not sure when I'll next work.... Prob after the "Drei König Tag", whatever the hell that is. Likely next job is the second week of Jan....
# lazy dayz.
Someone suggested I could do a few hours Christmas eve. Sod that it's me the mrs and kids for 10 whole days. See you on the 4th work!
and turkmenistan
All the best locations!
Working through till xmas eve prepping for a major machine overhaul beginning on 28th, will hopefully be completed for an early site secure and pint with the team just after dinnertime...
Then I get the weekend off and work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday on 12hr days with the possibility of Thursday if anything goes tits up. Plant restarts on the Saturday and I'll be on call.
go on holiday 2nd week of jan so in next week till weds. otherwise id definitely be finishing today.
i hate it being so late in the week. next two years will be worse, having to work a full week in the run up!
Working right up until the end of Christmas eve, booked Tuesday and Wednesday off but working the day on new years eve and then on standby until 8am new years day. Then back to normal after the weekend.
