Hüsker Dü
Agree about OK Computer but don't really have an absolute best album
Is this the life? The Cardiacs
The Cardiacs in Oxford (with Bic Hayes still in the band) or Alien Sex Fiend in the Tin Can Club in Birmingham way back when (lots of psychobillies slamming around the dance floor with knives; turned into a blood bath!)

Band - The Fall. Or maybe Radiohead. Or Pavement. Or A Tribe Called Quest. I'll get Back to you...
Album - far too hard to choose, so I will go for Tricks of the shade by The Goats in the hope it will encourage someone to listen to it. But probably it's something by Radiohead. Or Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.
Single - Teenage kicks (iout of respect to the late JP)
Gig - Probably The Blue Aeroplanes at the Assembly Rooms in Bristol just after they came off tour with REM in the brief window when they were going to be famous. Sadly it never happened...

Yeah, I guess it changes with age, there is a certain amount of wild abandonment of youth that fuels the memories.

Best band/performer and gigs - every time I've ever seen Talking Heads and more recently David Byrne on his own.

Best gig of last 12 months - amazingly the octogenerian Orquestra Buena Vista Social Club at WOMAD this summer - amazing because at this late stage in their lives, and with so much behind them, you'd never have guessed they could still have such edge.

Single (ever) - oh my god, tomorrow it might be different, but tonight it's 'Ain't Nobody' by Rufus and Chakka Khan.

Album (ever) - the same applies, but tonight it's 'Kind of Blue' by Miles Davis.

to answer emsz - no, the last 30 years worth of gigs haven't been sh*te++, just that was the best one I can recall in terms of (a) line up (b) performance by all the bands and (c) the mates I was with.

The last gig* I went to was pretty good too, and that was only 4 months ago. Bet you can't guess which band it was...

++ other than The Sisters Of Mercy at Leeds O2 a couple of years ago. that was pretty poor. big old uni reunion kind of made up for that one though!

* by a band other than my own 😉

saw Play Dead a few times too., they were well good

I sort of feel sorry for people who've not been to decent gig since before I was born....

It's 10 years since I saw my best show, but that doesn't mean I've not seen a hell of a lot of great shows since. Only one can be the best, is all.

Band: Pavement (consistently great records).

Relationship Of Command by At The Drive-in has to get a mention because it's the greatest production I've ever heard. All hail Ross Robinson.

Single: The Rat by The Walkmen

Gig: Six By Seven at King Tut's (2001). Rival Schools at King Tut's is a close second.

Album - Hatful of Hollow
Single - Birthday by the Sugarcubes
Gig - Pixies at N'cle Uni, 1989
