[Closed] What make of watch are you wearing?

Ti Animal one an ex bought me about 6 years ago that's chunky, reasonably light and properly wwaterproof.

Or when not doing any sport or going to get soaked at work, a Nixon with a big leather strap.

Feel kinda naked without a watch on.

If you want to know the time, ask a policeman.

None - don't often wear a watch as I've always got my phone with me and it shows the time.

See, this is what I don't understand. Unless you're one of those terminally tragic saddo's who go everywhere with their bloody mobile clenched in their sweaty fist, to prove to everyone just how cool they are, it takes far, far longer to take a phone out of your pocket, wake it up, and look at the screen, whereas if I want the time, especially if I'm riding the bike, it takes one second to glance at the watch, two if I have to move my sleeve. What's so difficult about that?

Titanium Citizen Eco-Drive

[img] [/img]

It's Titanium, it's solar powered, it looks a bit like an altimeter and its price in Goldsmiths happened to match the amount of Tesco clubcard vouchers I had to spend 😆

Given you can get a cheap, functional digital watch for a fiver, anything else is just jewellery for the metrosexuals.

Exactly, and don't you just love it? Will a 5 quid digital keep as good time as a more expensive radio controlled watch?

U-boat left hook when I'm not at work - it's unusual and I like it. Seiko kinetic arctura and a decathlon heart rate monitor one plus some others.

I tell the time by the topics on here.
This one comes around every 4.45 months. By triangulating with the last appearance 'where does your username come from' and 'should we split the UK', combined with when someone last posted a video of Danny Madskills and how long RudeElfinFredBra's latest incarnation has been on here I can be accurate to within 2 or 3 minutes.

😀

157 posts makes this my most popular thread. It seems STWers like talking about watches. I'll resume my market research in 4.45 months 😉

I elected a nice Seiko over a G-shock as I'm no longer 12 years old.

Rolex Sub date chrono... After a very good year self employed 20 yrs ago I thought, why not as I always liked them. Worn it 24/7 since then covering diving, caving, building through to biking and client meetings....

Its not that accurate but as mentioned elsewhere, it puts a smile on my face as its always been with me through a lot of adventures.

Only downside is the desperate price of servicing.....

Rolex bi-gold datejust, iridium face with gold roman numerals and president bracelet.
[IMG] [/IMG]

Also a Klaus Kobec Notorious rose gold with ceramic black bracelet.
[IMG] [/IMG]

And also a Seiko eco-drive military.

Yes im a bit of a watch nut, have also owned a Rolex submariner and omega and TAG before. My next watch i want to own when i have saved the pennys is a Panerai luminor. Never been one for jingle jangle jewelery but have all ways liked watches since a young lad. One good watch will last you a life time.

I would really like a G-Shock; everyone rates them very highly for strength but they're all so fussy looking. Loads of silly little dials and stuff just clutter up the face and make it very difficult to actually tell the time at a glance, in whi h case I might as well use my mobile...
...could that be the case, people wear watches that are so loaded with useless extra features that are just ****y showing off that the primary function lost, so they end up using the phone because it's easier to read?
The only G-Shock I've found that's close to my taste is this one:
[img] [/img]

The Casio-GIEZ-GS1300B-1A, which if it didn't have the extra supplementary dials would be pretty much spot-on.
Now, if only they offered a custom design service...

Yay same as me!

I was attracted to the large numbers on the display and the small numbers on the ticket.

Got given a Rolex Oyster for my 21st and wore it for the next 25 years until bare below the elbows became the norm for the NHS. Still used as my days off watch and now use a Military Watch Company G10 for work.

Are Oris watches any good? Liking the BC4s and the big crowns.
The OT wants to buy me a watch as a wedding gift but all I know about watches is that I like Panerai luminors (which we cannot afford 🙁 )

I would love to say they are the best, but they aren't. I wear one everyday, it's been a great watch for the last 5 or 6 years, looses about a minute a month & only serviced the once, but all mechanical watches are crap at keeping the time.

This is my one

Ah. Thanks 2unfit2ride what would you recommend at about £1000?
I don't like too flashy, prefer uncomplicated hard wearing "mans" watch with bold numbers rather than dashes. Would love something without batteries (I love my eco drive) and perhaps atomic timekeeping?

backhanded, this looks like the kind of thing you're looking for, but it's probably outside your price bracket; £2050

There seems to be a lot of g-shock fans here. And quite rightly so- they're great watches

Got a G-Shock Mudman and a Luminox for day to day stuff, and a (incredibly good) "replica" Automatic Bell and Ross from Bali for smart. I did think the B&R looked huge in the box but on the wrist it's a lovely looking watch. Certainly would consider investing in a legit one. Those Panerai's are lovely too.

Bog standard casio here. Used to want a fancy sector watch.

Would like a basic Timex expedition watch but would still feel guilty at the purchase after the bitter Dundee dispute in the early 90s which, despite growing up through the miner strikes, was I guess the first time I actually observed and understood that sort of thing.

Depth Junkie, Klaus Cobec send me a catalogue every few months. Never seen one in the flesh are they nice? I just wrote it off as a mail scam. Love your Rolex, datejust is a classic design.
