We got a new small table + 3 chairs for our kitchen-diner last Spring. It fits perfectly and has been in constant use as a dining table and a desk ever since.

Probably the mixed 18kg of lego + instructions. Kept the kids and me (mostly me) entertained for hours, sorting it, building it, ordering missing pieces etc etc.

Will probably have it to sell most of it soon as don't have room for it.

Last 12 months - all the bits to build a new bike for the boy, some of it sourced from nice people on here. I ordered some Lego but I was a bit underwhelmed with Ecto-1 to be honest.

2021 - Tamiya TT-02 Subaru Impreza - still not finished

Ordered online and collected in-store (does that count)? A PSVR headset. WT actual F!

That and a great new outside security light that is perfect for my needs and also fitted perfectly onto the holes I drilled for the last POS light that prematurely failed and always was rubbish.

Hopefully my best online purchase will be the trail running shoes that arrived yesterday. Lovely pair of Hoka Mafate Speed 3. Unfortunately after my vaccine jab yesterday I'm running a fever so I'll have to wait til after the weekend to try them out.

This year, as in 2021, a pair of Macna Fulcrum Nighteye motorbike trousers. Can't use them because we can't go out motorbiking but they let me dream of long-distance tours down to the south of Spain.

This year, as in the last 12 months, I managed to get a Ryzen 5600X and RTX3070 for MSRP before everything went batshit crazy for gaming PC stuff. Linked up with the Oculus VR headset it's quite the experience, especially Star Wars Squadrons.

I posted this on the last page but here you go. I got mine for about £50 on Amazon but price seems to have gone up there.

In 2021 so far: A Tech 21 Sansamp Bassdriver pedal, allows me to make all sorts of fun rumbly noises. (Nice Jazz Bass BTW Sharkattack). But most of my Bass bits from the local music shop but they're not a Tech 21 seller so went online.

In the last 12 months, a big old Weber gas grill and smoker box, purchased right at the start of lockdown and being able to kill a whole day smoking a pork shoulder or a brisket made the Summer of Covid a lot more bearable, eyeballing offset smokers now.

Psvr headset too, even if SW squadrons gives me motion sickness. Looking down at your legs in a smoke filled x wing cockpit whilst your astro mech fixes it was worth the expense.

No £1,900 for a new bike that was originally £2,700 is a bargain.

The fact I upgraded it doesn't really have any bearing on the value of it.

@racefaceec90 All good thanks, but less of the pleasantries and more of titanium bike goodness please!

So chuffed you're getting back on the bike - and what a way to do it.. I'm eagerly awaiting the new bike thread 😃

Spent a decent amount late last year on new hifi stuff that has been (probably) the best online purchase ever but for this year it has to be a simple Kambukka Etna insulated mug that I can throw in my pocket/bag/car/bike and have a decent coffee wherever I want without the hassle of spills or drips/leaks.

Errrrr, three bass guitars. Fender were doing free lessons and I'd always fancied learning the bass. Cautiously I spent 50 quid on an old Encore P Bass, and found it very playable, but badly shielded, so I upgraded the pickups to Wilkinsons and replaced the pickguard and rusty bridge. Then I got the bug and dropped on a used Modern Player Jazz bass.....Fender loveliness with twin humbuckers.... found that incredibly playable but after a few more months realised I badly needed (wanted....) a proper Jazz to see what other tones were available, so I ordered a Player Series (Mex) Jazz Bass. They've certainly helped me through the long days at home.

That Whyte is lovely, bugger, a brain worm.

Best purchase? Echo Dot 4 (I know, I know, late to the party), was astonished that it plugged straight in and played lossless through the stereo.

Dumbbells and a Kettlebell. Helps keep me sane. I’d like some heavier ones and a bench but there’s bugger all out there at the moment.

Best purchase for me has been one of those massive fleece-lined hoodie blankets for my wife to sling on in the evening. Its stopped almost all whinging about how cold the living room is (thermostat on 21) while I sit in my t-shirt!

Stumpy you must tell us where these magical blankets can be found. Mrs PF also likes the house like a sauna.

The Cayuga duck eggs we hatched..

@cloudnine my partner has hatched ducks at the care home she manages a few times. She sets it up so that the whole process from incubation onwards is in a public space. Normally she is reasonably successful so three or four eggs hatch. The people she supports really enjoy seeing and being part of the the process - keeping the incubator topped up, feeding the chicks etc

2 things for me.
A pair of insulated army surplus trousers which are awesome for after swimming and a new really warm bobble hat as it keeps my head and ears warm.

Some northern soul and girl group/ soul vocal 45s from John Manship. And a brass thingy so that I could play them (thought the records were damaged as some came with a big hole for the spindle. Have subsequently learnt that the torque on a 45 meant that the hole would wear so they were designed with a bigger one blah blah).

I've never heard that, I thought it was so they could be used with an autochanger or jukebox, if you saw records s/h with the centre pushed out it usually meant they'd had a hard life! New 45s used to come with the centre disc attached with 3 tabs so they could just be pushed out. I presume your brass thingy is just an adapter placed over a standard spindle so they'll fit.

Second hand Subwoofers from eBay.

The kitchen has ceiling speakers that were lacking depth but I'd not cabled for a sub when we built and couldn't work out how to run cables. Suddenly occurred that there were probably wireless links now (and there are) and picked up a second hand BK Electronics XLS200 from eBay for half the new price.

It made such a difference to the sound in the kitchen that I started thinking about the office as the Monitor Audio Radius 90 speakers (that were my living room surrounds in the last house) are only rated down to 80hz. eBay again, this time an MJ Acoustics Pro50 mk3 at £160 (against a rrp of £550!). Like the BK it's a 10" but less powerful and a smaller box but really goes impressively low.

There's amazing value to be had with used hifi kit - the office kit is a Teac AH300mk2 Amp and DAB tuner that I paid about £80 for. When I was looking for the subs there was amazing value to be had on stuff like high end Monitor Audio floor standers.

Nice. I've never, ever come across anyone shooting that before. (I used to shoot HT.)

Yeah, that's obviously bobbins. Like, friction doesn't exist.

It's for jukeboxes. An autochanger (at least, the one I had in a past life) used the standard spindle. Your three tabs thing that looked like the Isle of Man logo was a retro-fit to 'repair' singles that previously had the middles knocked out to go in a jukebox, you could buy them separately. They didn't come like that to my recollection.

Could be wrong, the last time I played a record was on a midi system in the 90s.

A tub of 80 fuses, 3, 5, 10, and 13 amp varieties. I'll never need to take apart a plug again only to find the fuse already missing and every appliance I ever pick up will always have a fuse in. What a dream come true!
