Barely remembered film, first seen in the eighties. Dark atmosphere. Group of young people, on an island, or at least somewhere remote on the coast somewhere... Australia mebbe.
There's a bit where a girl is running through bushes and nearly runs into a huge web with a big-ass spider in the middle. Another bit where they keep hearing weird noises from the sea, and upon inspection find a washed up manatee/sea cow... or something. No one knows what I'm on about.
Anyone?
"Too Much Cheese Before Bed"?
I know this one!
I asked the same question many years ago (different forum). Watched it on C4 in the early hours of the morning when I was 16 and it was freaky as hell. Then I couldn't remember the name.
It's called Long Weekend, but there's now two versions, as they remade it a few years back.
Wow. Second reply. Nice one butcher, think that's it! Will have to track it down for re-watch.
Decades-old mystery solved in a few minutes.
He’s right you know.
The Goonies 😆
Whilst we're at it. Here's another: even more vaguely remembered film, also Australian, same era, set in a maximum security prion wing. Uber violent, prisoners attacking each other with shanks etc...
Jeez I watched some monged films as a kid. Parents out at the pub all night...
Chopper?

When you said that, the name 'Furguson' popped into my head. What does it mean?
Was Vinegar Tits one of the guards?
