[Closed] What is a reasonable time to vacate a property?

We are in the process of moving house on Saturday and starting to get very worried about the previous people and the time they take to vacate the property. Their contract ends on Saturday and we need to move in on Saturday as they said they would be out on this day. My question is: what is a reasonable time to expect them to vacate the property? They are now saying they may not be out until after 5pm!!!! Doesn't help that he is a little posh boy druggie.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and help reduce my stress.

5pm doesn't sound reasonable. Your solicitor is the best person to talk to about this. You may need to get him/her to make threatening noises - SFAIK you are entitled to expect vacant posession the minute you complete (ie hand over the money).

It sounds like he's talking about rental, not purchase!

If his contract ends on Saturday, then he's presumably entitled to stay until midnight unless the contract says something different!

Sorry, yeah it is only a rental property. We are going around to the landlords tomorrow so will speak to them and get them to sort it out.

Yeah hassle the landlord and see if you can sort it - although from the other tenant's point of view, if you're moving yourself in cars or hired van or whatever, 5pm isn't an absurdly late time to finish doing it. It isn't like having a removal company to do it.

haha that is what I was thinking. Really starting to get worried that they are gonna try and stay longer. The landlord(s) are now involved and they are going to be there at 12 to hand the property over to us. Have also just found out that they haven't cancelled their phone, so we can't transfer our line yet. Might have to call on the STW Enforcement Officers.
