It seems that free members = black and blue (they probably deserve it 😉). Full members = either black and green, black and red or all black. Ish, I may have this wrong. Random? Secret code?

Incorrect, according to the Dulux colour chart, it's 'marine splash'.
It follows the trail classification guide. Green = Novice -> Black = Well ‘ard

You're right, it's been around for a good while. I just didn't know if the colours were significant so thought I'd ask. It's just the 'like' feature that's new.

Considering many people subscribed to support the magazine (even if they don't read it from cover to cover) it seems a bit of a waste of resources to differentiate users further. Is this is pre-cursor to yet more content hidden away behind subscriber paywalls?
To be honest I think I'd have preferred it if the money was spent on content or fixing the problem where posts take 2 minutes to complete after hitting submit.
