She's not happy with my suggestions of Band On The Wall, Sankey's or Bramall Lane.

Ideally, we'd just jump over a broom at the summit of Elidir Fawr or on Llanddwyn Island, which we'll still do, but we need somewhere with easier access for the in laws for a proper do.

Needs to be:
Within 90 minutes drive from Manchester.
Beautiful.
Not outrageously expensive.

Step daughter hired a barn & farmhouse for hers, which was great.
Plenty of room for dancing and a hog roast.

All suggestions welcome.

We had our ceremony and photos at Tatton Park, party at some hotel afterwards. Don't recall the name of the hotel, so must have been a good party.

Cheers! 😀

Relatively cheap as you can have the ceremony there. Just down the road from Gisburn forest too. 🙂

Just thought, we could do it at next years Hit The North.

The other step daughter had hers at Sedgley Park Rugby club, just round the corner.
It was nice.
Could get the Blue Bay or Forts of India to do the catering!

Stag do in Manchester the night before?

Tithe Barn (sp!?) in Carlisle is really nice and I think pretty reasonable price-wise. Proper old, old building with massive wooden beams everywhere.

Right in the middle of the old part of town, near the Cathedral.

Westleigh conference centre, preston. Fantastic venue and the staff are very accommodating, I should know I got married there 6 weeks ago. Might be out of budget, depends what you mean by outrageously expensive. It's part of uclan, and is a Georgian manor house set in 20 acres of gardens.

Shameless plug but if you need a band www.fletchlive.co.uk and we play all over the north west. I'm Manchester based but the rest are Chester.

fletch_trio@yahoo.co.uk is the email if you want to discuss anything. Cheers

A mate his wedding at Bolton School at Christmas a few years back. Absolutely stunning setting for photos and I think they did it for a reasonable budget.

And on the subject of bands. We had a superb swing/jazz band. Very highly recommended.

What? All sensible suggestions? How disappointing, so in the benefit of balance:-

Arndale Centre food court.
Jodrell Bank.

More importantly, ace news! Many congrats to you and Sue.

Thanks 🙂

Well, I was thinking about inviting STW people to join our (hungover) celebratory bike ride at Gisburn forest on the Sunday. Don't think we will really have room at the reception unfortunately.

Thank you Matt 🙂

Stag do will either be Llanberis, Bruges or Amsterdam, depending on the relavant proportion of cyclists, drinkers and smokers able to attend.
(I'd prefer Llanberis, tbh. It's not glamorous, but we can sort the rest out ourselves 😀 ) .

Hope your Ed's available for the music. 🙂

Good idea - we'll bring (more) cake.
And painkillers.

I used to do wedding photography so saw a lot of venues.

I liked the Barn at rivington, at least you could go for a ride when sussing it out.

Peckforton castle is lovely assuming the its been sorted after that tool burned it down last year

Theres also a lovely country house hotel between Lymn and he M6 viaduct. Cant remember its name but that was simply lovely.

Tabley Hall near Knutsford is also well worth a look

My office is in Warrington. It's usually empty on a saturday. You can use that for a reasonable fee.

If there's any callouts while you're there you'll have to deal with them though.

Suggested that to the wife* and got shot down in flames. We got married in Liverpool Town Hall, which was a tremendous venue.

Andy

We are getting married in two weeks time in the Ribble Valley.

Marriage is at St Peters church, Stonyhurst. Reception is at the Tithebarn at Browsholme hall. Lovely old stone barn and the caterers are amazing! Really looking forward to it now!

Planning on riding Longridge Fell with my best man the morning of the wedding, finishing up outside the church for a quick photo for the wedding album!

We got married in St Anns church and then walked up to Manchester Town Hall last year. Fantastic places to get married.

The Town Hall have a nice room to get married in to if you're not doing a church wedding:

Yep, they can cost a lot - £2k is not uncommon.

A friend is a 'fine art' landscape photographer and is doing ours for £500 (we offered to pay that, he initially asked for £250). He's also coming as a guest.

The Samling at Dove Nest, near Ambleside. Stunning private hotel with a massive barn. Mrs Gti and I got married there.

How naive I was then.

Weddings are pretty much all I do now - very candid, no endless posed stuff, eight years in the business, based in the north east so no silly London prices 🙂

Thornton Hall

http://www.thorntonhallhotel.com/

Dependent on amount of guests and which hall is used the price can differ alot, the garden area is stunning for photographs in Summer and Winter.

Craxton Wood

http://www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk/our-hotels/macdonald-craxton-wood-hotel/?gclid=CLKIp8673rcCFUTHtAodj28AAw

Both these are based on the Wirral near Ness Gardens as Rich said a few weeks ago and is around 1 hours drive from Manchester Airport via the M56 and M53 motorways.
