Have an oldish AEG washing machine. Been working perfectly, been cleaned and looked after but suddenly it will not fill with water when switched onto a main wash. The machine hums and give a few clicks as it usually does, but no sign of water. The pre wash cycle works fine (fills, spins, rinses etc) so the water supply to the machine is OK.
Any clues? The machine has no LED display to give error codes.

They have a couple of resident washing machine repairmen on there.
the machine has 2 valves one for pre wash will be cold normally, a hot supply to wash so have a look at supply and valves
Check the filters in the inlet hoses are clear, they are usually at the machine end of the hose.
