I got a book about John Tarrant for Christmas. Fascinating read about an amateur runner's battle to compete.

It got me wondering if there was a cycling equivalent, ghosting pelotons in an attempt to prove something, or for glory.

Any names/books come to mind?

Didn't Fionn Griffiths do that one year when she wasn't allowed to compete or something?
