Forgive the ignorance.... I believe this may be the place I have been searching for to educate my cavernous world politics omissions.... But.....
Why do America get to hang out in Iran extracting oil and demanding things of them.... If Iranians were in America extracting minerals would they not be retaliating...? And why do we get to have a nuclear arsenel but Iran can't? Who put us in charge? I'm vaguely aware of a dodgy regime problem but I just don't get why its not OK for middle Eastern countries to retaliate in their own country.
Surely its clearly all about oil no? I reckon I'd rather see Iran have a nuclear arsenel than trump have one. Are we just pathetically towing the line to get some one sided trade deal where we get humped by a big country which doesn't need our trade....?! Argh so many questions.... Hopefully this forum will have less racist ill-informed info than Facebook?!

Irans “religious leaders” have sworn to eliminate the state of Israel, with nukes and ballistic missiles they could do overnight.
Do they care that the US and the remnants of the IDF would reduce Iran to radioactive glass in retaliation, for the most zealous I doubt it, it would be glorious martyrdom.
Trumps nuclear arsenal has many checks and balances that have evolved over the 70 years the US has had nuclear weapons to stop a dodgy launch and if the military decided it was illegal they would hopefully talk him out of it or stop it.
Trumpy decided he was going to rub out the Iranian General when he got the chance. The General was probably viewed simultaneously by the ruling elite in Iran as a national hero and a mortal threat to them given the volatile nature of the politics.
Trumpy presented them with a fait accompli then said they could chuck a few missiles at the empty end of a few half run-down bases to save face.
What neither side factored in, and what dumbass people who think they are being clever never factor in, was the **** up factor.
So a jittery air defence captain gets all trigger happy and shoots at the first thing that crosses his radar screen and nearly two hundred innocent people die.

The Iranians are out protesting again against their government's misshandlung of the plane.
GF's dad is Iranian. He was telling me that some Iranians actually welcome the sanctions as it puts more pressure on their government to change/another revolution. Some people think Trump is a good thing.
All a matter of perspective....
That's a strange conclusion, no it's a reminder that shit happens when they play the game of shooting at eachother. and that it's not just the Russians and Iranians shooting down airliners.
Ah the old empire knew how to deal with these pesky Irainians. 😨 Obviously all the experts on Iran will know about this but just found this out myself. Not talked about much I'd expect.

So the root cause is Iran and Israels ancient feud.... But luckily America is on hand to look out for the oppressed people... (do they do this in all global disputes or only those in which they have a vested interest)
Seems to me unfathomable from my naive, little house in the prairie, but there seems to be an unbelievable amount of experts on radio 4 with intimate knowledge of ballistics and tactics, educated gentle sounding women with milatary knowledge, old guys with a passion for tactics and counter tactics.... Am I just a massive hippy or is this not bizarre.... In this day and age.... Why can we all not just get along... Haha!!
