Has anyone received this email (screenshot attached) from Garmin recently?
The email is from 'alerts@notifications.garmin.com' and the URL on the link is 'https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/account/?utm_campaign=purge_firstPurgeWarning&utm_source=garminTransactional&utm_medium=email'
So it all seems legit. But if its not a scam its some sort of error? I use my Garmin connect most days.
A Google suggests it's a common scam but then the links wouldn't be legit?
I've logged in (not via the links in the email) and there is no notification on my account. So I'm assuming it's a scam, are the links being faked somehow?
Anyone else?
Managed to get the image to post in the first post, why is it still so difficult....

Where are you getting that link from? You may know this already but the one you see isn't necessarily the one it'll take you to. If you're on PC, hover your mouse over the link to see the real url at the bottom left of your browser (dunno how to do this on a phone!).
Â
You can also look at the email headers ("view original" in Gmail) to see the real email address it was sent from, again, not necessarily what's shown in the "from" box.
Â
Alternatively... do you maybe have 2 accounts with different emails? This has happened to me with someone else and caused some confusion at first.
I got the link from 'right clicking' (holding the link button on android).
As you suggest above I'm leaning towards this being for an old account. My current account is @gmail.com whereas the email is sent to @googlemail.com (assuming Garmin sees this as different).
I'm by no means an IT expert but am wary and think I know the common tricks which is why I'm curiousÂ
They used to be 2 different emails, but about 8 years ago they got combined...so previously they would be separate systems, now, they are the same.
Address handling in Gmail is kinda funky.
Dots are ignored, so dick.barton@ and dickbarton@ are the same. A plus symbol throws away anything after it in the username, so you could sign up here with dickbarton+singletrack@ and not only would it work but you have visibility of who's sold your details.
🤣 I had to edit this as stw followed by an @ symbol generated the S****horpe problem.
