I'd put money on at least half of my TKD clubs members whipping both or their arses. Same with the local BJJ and boxing clubs.

Superb. Comment of the day ๐Ÿ˜†

Yes. Lots. Why does this come as a surprise? That's probably the reason that our club has many world champions in TKD and kickboxing. Many of whom have won multiple championships in different organisations after being invited to take part. It's probably also a reason that the Scottish national team are the current World Champs.

The point that was originally made was that there are very few people in UFC who are superb at martial arts. They are mainly brawlers who would come undone very quickly if put up against someone who was focussed on a particular art.

Yes, some of them have "multiple world titles" in various martial arts, but that's often because there are hundred of organisations organising world championships at lots of different weights, age gradings and levels of experience.

I've seen plenty of guys walk into our gym announcing they're black belts in whatever discipline. Then they get completely dismantled in our sparring session and about 1 in 10 come back for a 2nd time.

Behave you muppet

UFC [ Gracie aside} showed that only knowing one art was next to useless
Any moderately skilled "brawler" will take your TKD champion to the ground and win comfortably- they are free to enter the "brawling" BTW yet they dont.

FWIW TKD is amongst the worst as its sports fighting Fast but [relatively] useless in the real world. Happy to meet you to pound you as you attempt a spinning kick and axe kick ๐Ÿ˜‰

FWIW I train with a [ex] national champion in TKD they would agree as they turned up and got beat shitless by people who had trained for 6 months

I hope this is a troll and not a serious point but i really cannot tell.

I think the last time you watched the UFC was when Royce was competing.

Why the hell would I do a stupid kick like that which would give you a leg to grab? A nice wee simple 45 degree turning kick to the legs and the ribs would do the job much more effectively and be far less risky. Probably break a few ribs too. Some choke holds would work, maybe a few elbows, knees and all of the other stuff that is in the art but not in the competitive form of the sport.

All these world champions could be earning millions in vegas beating up all the hopeless brawlers but I guess a damp town hall in motherwell is to much to leave behind.

Boardinbob - 4 examples of terrible kicks:
1 - off balance - easy to push over and take to ground,
2 - didn't hit the target,
3 - left themself wide open to a counter and missed the main target,
4 - the person defending is just about to grab the leg and take the kicker to ground.

Nah, it's the trolling equivalent of windmilling across the road at kicking out time. DT would hand him his arse on a plate.

If you are that good why not give it a bash...same goes for your pals.

Evidence is clear, if you don't have an all round game in UFC you are screwed. Remember James Toney...

Mcgregor would kick the living shit out all your pals in an instant. On the same night...

Having seen a lot of Aldo over the years i really didn't expect McGregor to get the better him. Fair play that man.

wanmankylung, you once called me an 'idiot troll' but i now see you were talking about someone else.

Can I point out that as a quite practiced martial artist (TKD ITF Black Belt, Kick boxing Black belt, BJJ pussy) I wouldn't stand a bloody chance.

If you do really believe this you are completely deluded and I assume, about 12. How many full contact fights have you, or anyone at your clubs had in the last year? It's a completely different thing to any kind of 'points' sparring.

I thought there was a GB team not a scottish team at the last world champs (Italy) anyway?

He's already answered that question!

So basically you and your mates turn up and just kick seven bells of shit out of each other?

How do you get any training done when you are breaking each others jaws when sparring?

He really hasn't. There's a lot of difference between uncontrolled sparring and a proper fight against a pro or even semi pro opponent.
Certainly the best TKD / Kick boxing fighter at my clubs was knocked out the weekend before for a UK title fight (he already held a couple of belts). I'd put money on him being better than most of your club as he was actually selected for the Great Britain team at the recent ITF world champs.

Also, in the picture, #4, Mirco Cro Cop. If you think he hasn't got a kick, then you really, really don't have a clue.

Holy shit, this thread went from 0-60 while I was away!

Whilst I don't want to feed the troll I can't resist pointing out to Wanmanylung that the UFC ranks are coming down with Olympians and world champions in virtually every combatitive art. To say nothing of the K1 kickboxers and Pancrase champions or the Abhu Dabi champions and Metamoris champions.

Perhaps he should ask the guys at his local BJJ club what they think of Nick Diaz or Damian Maia, Jacare, or Fabrico Werdum or Rousimar Palhares or the Nogeuiras.

Even then, it's all moot. It's all well and good being able to pull of a perfect gogoplata or flying arm bar but trying doing while you're getting punched or elbowed in the face, covered in sweat and blood with no gi. Same thing for all the TKD kicking techniques which "might" work if you're willing to accept the risk of getting taken down and beaten to a bloody pulp.

This kind of nonsense makes me nostalgic for the Youtube comments of 10 years ago.

I feel responsible by my over exaggerated description of 'superb martial arts'....... I only learnt and used regularly Ikaedo moves and could only subdue an angry local boxer/brawler or maybe the opposition prop in a fist fight ๐Ÿ˜† so forgive me I know sweet f a...... ๐Ÿ˜†
