Any predictions on how this will play out with improved preparations by both fighters?

This time, most of the pundits seem to favour Diaz unless McGregor can stop him in the first couple of rounds. Good breakdown of how Diaz pulled it off last time here.

It’s almost as interesting to speculate on what McGregor might do next, win or lose. Can he make weight at 145 in 6 months or less without wrecking himself? I’d still be interested to see a rematch with Aldo, given his performance against Edgar. Max Holloway also looks much improved.

I think he’ll ultimately settle as an entertaining, competitive lightweight, but I can’t imagine that he’d dominate that division in the same way as he did at featherweight.

Also looking forward to seeing Cerrone at welterweight again. Pretty ignorant about the remainder of the card with the exception of Johnson vs. Teixeira. Anything worth looking out for?

Are these two the ones throwing bottles at each other during the press conference? Classy by both of them 😆

Heh heh...hadn't seen that. Pair of fannies.

Was more entertained by that weigh-in the other month when the fighters shared baked goods when facing off.

I actually think Conor is going to win this time round. KO in first or second round.

Pretty weak card apart from the main event.

I hope diaz wins...comes across as a likable guy and hes a mtbr too.
Unless mcgregor has seriously upped his game, i cant see him winning

If Conor's changed his approach and training, which it really does sound like he has, then I think he can take him but, as we saw before, Nate can take a hell of a beating and still do the business.
Stamina's going to be key.

And to p*ss you all off, I'm actually flying to Vegas on Saturday for a work conference, did look at getting tickets but a couple of weeks ago the prices were steep for what was left. I'll settle for a sports bar somewhere but at least I'm in the right time zone and the evening you arrive is all about powering through the jetlag isn't it? 😉

Should be a decent PPV.
Diaz will beat Mystic Mac in the third.
Rumble will beat Glover probably in the 1st.
Cowboy will beat story by decision.

Cody Garbrant against Mizugaki should be good. Neil Magny v Lorenz Larkin too. Colby Covington's supposed to be one to watch, don't know his opponent.

The more I think about it, the more I think I want Conor to win to piss off all the feral casuals on social media, who seem to have decamped from McGregor's camp to support the 209.

Want Diaz to win. Connor can win but he will have to keep away from Diaz with kicks (to front leg) long periods to preserve his energy. Diaz got hit a few times by Connor and was OK but as soon as Diaz hit Mcgregor he was cooked. Cant see him staying away for 5 rounds?

I just want good fights!

McGregor can beat Diaz if he listens to his corner and not his ego. If he tries to KO him early it wont work, again. Legs kicks FTW. I have a feeling this will be his game plan and all this 'first round KO' stuff is just mind games.

Love watching the Cowboy, just wish it didn't take him 5 minutes to realise he's in a fight.

Diaz to win from behind with a stoppage. His apathy at press conferences is the perfect opposite to McGregors confidence and he has nothing to lose. McGregors future is back at 145 where his striking was awesome. Can't see McG going for a points win unless he believes he can't easily ko him; the key to him winning is accepting that.

Don-ald Cer-rone-ay!

Watched the Rogan/Cer-rone-ay podcast last night 😀 Love the cowboy even more now. Interesting how he describes his fights when he's in the 'zone'. Freely admits he doesn't work on training his mind? He really should.

So is anybody be staying up? Or just watching/downloading in the morning? Think I will be recording it off BT, and go into media/internet lockdown until I get a chance to watch it. Almost got caught out by the Guardian having Bisping's win on the front page of the sports site last year when I clicked on it as usual thinking it would be free of MMA.

I'll admit, when this rematch was announced I was like meh. But I find myself pretty hyped for it now. I don't know if the two of them genuinely hate each other, or just both masters of the build up machine. Either way I hope they hug it out after the fight. Although imagine Nick Diaz won't let that happen, although he is still banned from being in Nate's corner.

On a side note, how much bullshit is it having the Bisping v Hendo fight at 3/4am even tho it's in Manchester?

Going to get up at 5am

McGregor looks huge. Will be interesting to see how that effects his speed and mobility.

Will the added bulk give him the power to dent the bigger man?

McGregor needs to keep the fight standing. If Nate takes him down to the door it'll be same as last time. And, Nate didn't get a full camp last time.

Downloading in the morn/watch tomorrow night.

I want the Aldo rematch!!! Being irish, i should be behind McGregor but i think he's a dick and Aldo is twice the fighter - just got headforked and McGregor got lucky. 99 times out of 100 Aldo wins that fight, pity they had the 1 in 100 fight first 😆

As for the hate or pretend? Who knows what goes on in the head of these guys. Nate has more right to be pissed at the organisation than any one fighter. He's probably grateful to Conor for finally giving him the money fight. Only thing for certain is the UFC will milk these two to death.

Will the added bulk give him the power to dent the bigger man?

No amount of pumping ron makes you taller/arms longer. He's around the same weight as last time IIRC

Dana 'I Like HGH' White has said that Conor's next fight is 145 defence or he has to give up the belt. I honestly think he might just give it up and drop to 155, as I think most 170 fighters will tear his head off. Although, I am usually wrong.

Cutting to 145 did not look fun.

Eye of the (dehydrated) tiger! (left)

Yeah, he'll likely drop the belt rather fight at 145. The cut would be ever harder now he's used to being a bit bigger. Great excuse for not fighting Aldo again too.

most 170 fighters will tear his head off.

Agreed. However the Shark Pit is a tougher weight than 170 - there's so much talent @ 155. His small stature and power is ideal for 145 but the smaller '55ers all have a much better ground game. Be interesting to see what happens. He's already hinted at a trilogy with Nate (may not happen if Diaz wins again) but i wouldn't be surprised if he does this 3 fight thing and calls it a day. He can still slabber about retiring as Champ and only beaten by a much bigger guy.

Just can't understand how McGregor can gas so hard. He controlled the first two rounds and didnt have to do much work as Diaz did so little yet come the 3rd he was blowing out his arse. I actually thought he was going to wave it off at one point.

A wins a win but it wasn't massively convincing. Great fight to watch though and Diaz is a legend. Pointing and giving him the finger was amazing 😆

Great fight.

Firas Zahabi (Rory McD's coach) did a pre-fight breakdown on YouTube a couple of weeks ago and set out the strategy he'd have McGregor adopt against Diaz. It's pretty much exactly what he did. Wasn't how I saw it going to be honest; was amazed McGregor came back after gassing so badly in the third. Kind of grudgingly glad he won. He's a posturing little bum-balloon, but the hype train is entertaining.

Diaz is indeed a legend and it's good to see him make another big pay day. I just hope he can still find his car keys after all those big lefts. McGregor's reluctance to jump on Diaz is the biggest difference to how I've seen him beaten before. Henderson and Dos Anjos both kicked chunks out of his lead leg, then beat him up on the ground while avoiding submission attempts.

As for what comes next, I loved Nurmegomedov's suggestion for the UFC 205 card:

Nurmegomedov vs. Alvarez
Aldo vs. McGregor
Edgar vs. Holloway
Woodley vs. Thompson

No chance it'll happen, but we can dream.

Watching Olympic Taekwondo now. They just had a 5 minute adjudication over whether one competitor's toes skiffed the other's nose.

Don-ald Cer-rone-ay!!! That combo to finish Story was sublime perfection.

Good on McGregor - looks like he left his ego in the dressing room and battled hard for that win. Tight call but t i think he edged it. Fair play to the slabber 😀

Means looked great too and as for Rumble? Holy shit! A good night's fighting all round.

Mcgregor won it in the 4th with that bit of energy that came back. Wanted Diaz to win but I had a little bet on Connor just in case!

Running away was a bit embarrassing and I heard boos at one point.

I'm pretty sure I deserve some sort of medal for avoiding any info about this fight (or the entire card for that matter) and getting nicely drunk of a Sunday night to enjoy the carnage.

Pure blood and thunder from start to finish. The amount of damage Nate took was terrifying, his post fight chat was pretty much incomprehensible. Hope they took him to hospital.

Running away was a bit embarrassing and I heard boos at one point.

They fought in a cage for 25 minutes. A few seconds of resetting and re-establishing distance isn't running away. You don't leave someone looking like this by running away

It's important to remember that those Olympic TKD fighters would DESTROY everyone in the UFC. And they're not even the best TKD fighters around, that's the light/semi contact stuff. There's a much more lethal variant of [s]dance[/s] tkd. And then there's the super hardcore Edinburgh variety where deaths in sparring are a regular occurrence, such is the lethality of their style.

I heard a guy once looked at one of those fellas funny, and they kicked him onto Mars.

Poor bastard is stranded there with just the Mars Exploration Rover for company.

He learned his lesson, though.

So, pray tell Marty. Was Anthony Johnson lucky when he KO'd Glover in 13 seconds?
