So practice for newcomers has started. Hopefully everyone comes homes safe. Bloody dangerous old sport and takes some huge cahoonas to even think about riding in it.
I'm sure a lot of people will be thinking of Simon Andrews as they head out to race this year.
A win for the tea drinking chief this year?
Anyone from here actually going?

McGuinness still injured, MD and the BMW on form, Brucie seems to be having a good year, the Norton appears to work and GM still hungry for a win.

Very sad about Simon at the NW.
Such a talent, shame he didn't really have the chance to shine.

I unfortunately saw the crash via someone linking me in an email. Horrible!
Just shows how bloody dangerous road racing is.

Said before but I hate the TT, to dangerous these days only my opinion and I know I am way out of step with the majority.

Love the TT, always have since my dad described it to me as a kid. It's dangerous, but they're all adults and nobody is holding a gun to their head to do it. People have also died mountain biking......true story

Practice has been rained off for today it would seem.

It is a choice tho, and surely the folks riding know the risks. Probably a damn sight safer than riding the cat n fiddle flat knacker on a Sunday morning.

Love the TT. Back when racing it was my aim and goal to race there. Sadly I wasn't good enough.

I live here on the island and I enjoy the racing and the "life" it brings to the island. But the nutters who race around on open roads when normal folk are going about there business are just stupid. Heard a guy today bragging he got to 160 mph seriously if u want to do that become a racer but don't put me and my family in danger it does my head in, and then they think they are in the right kn0bs

That explains why Kevin across the road is away again....he runs one of the smaller teams, used to operate of his garage, which was never as noisy as I thought it should be!

Come on Aprilia[s]Norton[/s]!!

It's a Norton by sticker and paint imho

Impressive the lap record fell so many times today, that's going to take some beating.

Err, how is it an Aprillia?

By that logic, a Brough is a JAP and the new Paton is a Kwak.

Err, how is it an Aprillia?

Engine by aprilia, frame was made out of house by a company who makes moto2 frames, so what did norton do apart from fairings and paint?

The frame is a Spondon.

Norton own Spondon.
They've done all the ECU and management systems too.
Everything but the engine.

So just the same as Brough, Bimota, CCM, Aprillia RS250's etc.

Thank you Rusty Spanner I stand corrected in the naughty corner.

Didn't know Spondo was now Norton owned, they used to make some stunning frames in the 80's/90's

Thought the ecu was motec?

Not sure Benji, you're probably right.
I believe it's only the cranks and cases from the Aprillia engine though.

It's a huge effort nontheless, they deserve to do well.

Bloody hell, how fast and close was that Superbike race?
If Brucie hadn't blown it at The Nook, that would have been one of the all time great duels.
I'd love to see him clean up for the rest of the week - man's a legend.

The onboard footage of the Birchall brother's crash was a bit of an eye opener too - both ok thankfully.

Been a bad year so far with Simon Andrews as well. I heard on the radio before the race someone had nicked Karl's wheels, I hope the thief's nob drops off.

HUGE motorcycle and motorsport fan and i have to admire th skills and commitment of the riders.. sure no one forces them to ride probably no one even has to ask them to ride.. a BUT is coming... BUT the poor folk who have to deal with the immediate aftermath neither want or ask to do it and never want to repeat it if unfortunate to witness a fatal incident.
i worked with a woman who went for the week supported a guy as he died and had to go back and relive it at the inquest ..it didnt sit easily with her and she certainly did not return to the IOM again.

It's probably just as likely to happen waiting for a bus. I saw a couple of nasty fatal accidents on my commute, still doing it though.

On the right hand side of the bike ? That's where they appeared to be looking.

Hmm good point thats what i read on the TT site,

Not sure how they spot oil leaks at those kind of speeds anyway but good job they did!

on another forum others reckon this

"It was some spectators that spotted the axle nut falling off & brought it to the attention of the marshalls."

To take a quote from Bladerunner

The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. And you have burned so very, very brightly, Roy

Really??

GULP

Turned up at Brands Indy for a trackday with a mate once upon a time, on arrival at circuit I noticed his rear spindle nut wasn't there. He's not known for his mechanical skills and has no concept how long ago he'd checked it... We'd done about 80 miles that day to get to Brands.

My only trip to the TT was in 1992. ๐Ÿ™‚
Four of us, me on the back of my mate Ged's Marlboro LC.

Ged's a nice bloke, good rider, but a bit numb.

Ran out of petrol on the motorway to Liverpool.
Saved by an elderly chap who'd managed to ride there from Austria without any problems.
We'd come from Manchester.

Get off ferry, breakfast, tents up, out for a lap.

Get to Ramsey and Ged's Hislop fantasy kicks in.
Bike felt a bit off over the mountain, back end all over the place but I was too busy laughing hysterically to pay much attention.

Back to the garage opposite the grandstand we find 10psi in the back tyre.

8 wins in two years for Michael Dunlop. At this rate he will catchJoey's records fairly quickly. Superb effort
