Hi,

I'm off to France (by car and ferry) soon not 100% certain I need to get insurance except for theft but then it should be covered on my house insurance (M&S)

Any recommendations on good value insurance?

B

If you haven't already, the EHIC is a good start.

Basically extends the NHS across to Europe, and it's free. Worth having just in case, but it's not really a substitute for proper insurance.

Dogtag's great if I was intending to do any sport - but I'm only looking to chill.

Got the EHIC cards for the family.

Martin Lewis (MoneySavingExpert) was going on about some insurance that adds to the EHIC - and supposedly gets it up to a normal level; clicky. It seems well suited to countries that have good qualities of NHS - as that's the catch - you need to ensure that if the worst happens, you're taken to a state hospital, not a private one. Got a quote for my 80yr old mother-in-law of £16 - seems too good to be true, but then maybe it's not? I'm inclined to believe what most of what Martin Lewis says, but has anyone actually used it?
